1970 Honda QA 50

Honda's revolutionary advertising slogan, "You meet the nicest people on a Honda," shattered the myth that bikes were only for tough guys and rebels. Single-handedly, Honda had made motorcycling appealing to everyone. By 1965, Honda was selling well over a quarter-million motorcycles annually. In 1968, Honda created a bike for the baby boomer youth market, the Z 50. Although similar in power to the Z50, the QA 50 was an excellent beginner's bike, utilizing a two-speed automatic transmission. Honda made four models of the QA50 over a four-year period. The fenders and fuel tank were offered in three matching colors-gypsy yellow, sprout green, and scarlet red. "From mighty to mini, Honda has it all."

As Monte Python would say "And now for something completely different". For consignment a beginner's bike if you will, in all its scarlet red restored glory. Even throw in a '60's flower power "QA 50" sticker, and you are all set to get your motor running. It appears this original bike was stripped down, and totally restored. All metal/plastic surfaces are very good, and engine kick starts on the first try when you get the fuel and ignition turned on below the tank!

Toe the shifter down one time and it immediately clicks into gear, all it needs is a twist of the throttle and you're off! (Like a prom dress...if you will!). Get her up to speed and toe down into the second gear and you can cruise at low rpm with a quiet buzz of the 49cc Single Cylinder OHV engine barely breaking a sweat. All this was with my adult 235lb bulk sitting atop the showroom looking wide seat and buzzing around the Classic Auto Mall Parking lot (AKA the CAM Racetrack!).

A fab example of this bike, runs great, looks showroom new (even down to the tire mold nipples). A totally fun ride for kids and adults.
