Vehicle Description

1973 Jaguar XJ 6VIN# UD1L72326 BWMiles Shown: 28086 Engine 4.2 liter Inline 6 cylinder W/ 2 Zenith-Stromberg side draft carburetors Transmission Borg Warner 3 speed automatic Color SilverUpon its introduction in 1968, the new Jaguar XJ-6 replaced all the sedans which preceded it. It has its signature 4.2-liter DOHC six-cylinder engine with anti-dive suspension, -and-pinion steering, power disc brakes, and an automatic transmission. Inside are red leather seats, walnut fascia throughout, plus enough gauges on the dash for a small airplane. The XJ-6 was the last Jaguar designed by company founder William Lyons, and is said to be "a fine balance of refinement, luxury, and performance."This Jaguar is a very solid car overall. It has been repainted in its original silver color and the paint looks pretty good We wish to point out that we found the car had some prior damage to the rear area at some point and left side of the spare tire well and to the rear valance. The valance also has showing some rust The floors and rocker panels look to be solid. The hood, trunk lid and doors look very good as well. The bumpers and exterior trim are in good condition and the chrome wheels look goodThe original Red leather seats and door panels are in good condition. The carpet under the Jaguar floor mats is showing wear. The wood trimmed dash looks very good and the switches and gauges are in nice shape. The gas gauge is not working the oil gauge is slow to respond. It looks like the oil gauge issue may be a sender problemThe radio works and the power windows work. The headliner is in good condition. The lights the floor switch for low/high beam doesn't work. The passenger front seat belt/shoulder belt is stuck fully extended- needs a to correct the issueThe engine starts and runs well with no unusual noises or issues. It has some minor oil leakage (British) but nothing major. The battery is a newly reconditioned unit. The transmission shifts properly and no slipping or abnormal noises were noticed. It does leak some and probably needs external seals and pan gasket. The brakes operate with no visible leaks. The pads still have life left on front and rearThe tires are size P215/70R15. The tread and appearance are the date code puts them at pre 2000 and probably late 1995 they would be ok for display but should be replaced for driving. The car has a clear Washington title and comes with a spare tire and a bottle jack in the trunkThe Jaguar is overall good condition. We recommend new tires and reconditioning the brakes. This car has been part of a large private collection since 2011 when it was acquired from the original owner who kept it for 38 years.
