For Sale: 1997 Land Rover Defender in Atlanta, Georgia

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this one owner 1997 NAS Land Rover Defender 90 with only 20,700 original miles. The Land Rover Defender needs no introduction. Highly collectible in recent years, most that you see on the road are grey-market imports (Diesel powered, manual transmission, no A/C and often right hand drive). The North American Specification (NAS) Defender 90 was only officially imported in 1994, 1995 and 1997 and featured the Rover gasoline V8 (and 1997 was the only year for an automatic transmission). In all, fewer than 6,500 D90s were officially imported and today the NAS D90 and D110 are among the most desirable 4x4s you can buy.

This D90 was purchased new at Land Rover Buckhead in Atlanta and has mainly been kept at the owner's estate in the North Carolina mountains. The owner had his eye on a D90 since they were introduced in '94 but preferred an automatic gearbox - so he ordered this one as soon as they were announced. It's completely original except for brand new BFG all terrain tires that we just had mounted as the original tires were showing their age. It's finished in original Coniston Green paint which remains in nice condition; clean CarFax report confirms mileage and accident-free history. The interior shows well; the A/C blows cold and it was optioned with a factory sunroof.

The owner used this D90 for its intended purpose - driving safely up the mountain in rain, snow, mud, etc. to access his vacation home. Being a low-mileage southern truck, it is mostly devoid of the typical rust issues - however we have noted some corrosion in the rear crossmember and fuel tank skid plate that will need to be addressed eventually.

On a recent three-hour road trip we found this Defender to be surprisingly comfortable at highway speeds and noted no mechanical issues. A Land Rover bike rack, service records, multiple keys, original sales invoice and factory tool roll are included. A rare opportunity for an ultra-low-mileage, single-owner, one-year-only NAS D90 - surely one of the lowest-mileage examples available.
