Vehicle Description
STK 2577 1931 Ford Street Rod
There are many ways to build an "old-school" street rod, but none
better than this 1931 Ford. Purchased in South Dakota in 2006 as an
original, rust-free Model A, this beautiful chopped coupe has an
all-steel body with an aluminum hood and front fenders. The frame
is a custom design that is boxed and reinforced. Stuffed under the
tiny hood is a 354ci 'Fire-Power' Hemi that was built by Hemis
Unlimited, Liberty, Mo. Ken Jack have a long history of building
Hemis for automotive and aquatic racing applications. He fitted the
bored block with a GM454 crank to create a 413ci monster. A GMC
6-71 style supercharger compresses the fuel delivered by dual
Holley carburetors that are fed by an electric fuel pump. A Mallory
Unilite ignition provides fire, custom headers w/cut-outs route
exhaust and cooling comes from a large-core Walker radiator.
Estimated horsepower is 750 and, by the sound of it, that number is
conservative. The Hemi is backed by a JW Racing three-speed
'manual-shift-only' automatic, capable of handling up to 1,000
horsepower. A Franklin Quick-Change differential houses a Detroit
Locker center and 4:10 gears. Power is transferred to the pavement
by a pair of Firestone 10.00x15" cheater slicks mounted on custom
chrome Bart Wheels with NASCAR centers. The front suspension
utilizes a dropped tube axle designed by Super Bell Axle Company
and the rear suspension is a 4-bar configuration with coil-over
shocks. Braking comes from huge power-assisted Buick drums fitted
to Indy-style hubs designed by Wilson Machine, Dallas, TX. This
interior is first-class with a bench seat and interior panels
beautifully upholstered in rolled/tufted black vinyl. There is a
wood trimmed turned dash, full gauge package, quick release
leather/alloy wheel and racing lap belts. The builder of this
amazing street rod left nothing to chance and he knows every nut
and bolt in this car. There are complete records of the build that
specify the company, date of purchase and $$ amounts. You will be
proud to drive this beautiful machine to the next cruise-in. ALL
VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
