Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this 1978 Silver
Anniversary Edition Corvette in fantastic driver condition and
priced to sell with only 73,560 original miles. This Silver
Anniversary Edition looks fantastic, runs great, and is an
excellent driver. It is totally solid with great lines. The
Corvette is finished in the correct, beautiful, and highly
desirable color combination of RPO B27 Silver Anniversary Two Tone
Silver (13) over Dark Gray (07). This is an excellent opportunity
to own a wonderful classic special edition Corvette that is ready
to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy
this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in the
years to come as the market on C3 Corvette is hot right now and on
the rise, this is especially true for the Silver Anniversary
Edition. The low original mileage is supported not only by the
condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured in
this ad, showing the mileage as, "Actual." Please peruse all of the
photos, video, and information to get a true sense of how nice this
Corvette really is.
There is a large binder that comes with this car filled with dozens
of receipts, documents, and maintenance notes. The receipts for the
car total nearly $5,000 in work and maintenance performed over the
past few years.
This Silver Anniversary Corvette is absolutely loaded with highly
desirable original options such as the YJ8 aluminum wheels, air
conditioning, tilt/telescopic steering column, sport mirrors, power
windows, power locks, power antenna, and the 25th Anniversary paint
scheme.
Please note that all 1978 Corvettes wore the "25th Anniversary"
badge. However, only certain cars, such as this example, were the
actual Silver Anniversary Editions with the Silver Anniversary
regular production order (RPO), "B2Z." This is verified by the trim
tag that is pictured in this ad showing the paint to be 13 for the
bright Silver upper sections and 07 for the Dark Gray lower
section, which was only used in 1978 and only for the B2Z
Corvettes, on the darker lower portion.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come
from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give
the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
Model Description
Chevrolet marked Corvette's 25th Anniversary in 1978 with the most
extensive redesign of the car since the introduction of the C3 body
style in 1968. The new Corvette introduced a large fastback style
rear window that drastically increased luggage space in the rear
compartment behind the seats. The interior of the 1978 was also
significantly redesigned. The speedometer and tachometer were
redesigned in a more square and vertical mode. A glove box was
added on the passenger side to replace the pocket. The door panels
were also completely new and included screw on arm rests to replace
the molded style that been the standard since 1965. 1978 Corvettes
featured special 25th Anniversary emblems specific to that
year.
Exterior
The Two Tone Silver (13) and Charcoal (07) exterior is in nice
driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a
terrific gloss and deep shine. The car was repainted in the correct
color scheme in 2016 and still looks great; there are dozens of
photos accompanying the car documenting the paint process. It was
stripped down to bare fiberglass and a high quality basecoat clear
coat paintjob was applied. Often Corvettes will have particularly
chipped up front ends, this car does not. Both doors open and shut
nicely. The original YJ8 aluminum wheels are in great condition
with a brilliant finish. The Cooper Cobra tires are literally brand
new with less than ten miles on them and correctly sized 225/70R15.
There are no major scratches, scrapes, or other imperfections that
have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some
small blemishes that were too faint to show up in the photos, but
noting that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away.
This Silver Anniversary Edition has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES car
and as one can see in the many photos of the underside it is very
clean underneath. The frame is totally solid with no rust around
the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and there are no
signs of corrosion around the windshield, which are the two most
notorious areas for rust on a Corvette of this era.
Interior
The Black interior in this Corvette is in good condition. The gauge
faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The seats look
just in person as they do in the photos with no excessive wear.
There is one very small puncture in the passenger seat near the
bottom visible in the photos. The carpet is also in great condition
with no stains or holes. The door panels are in good shape overall,
but there is a blemish on the driver's side near the door handle
that, as one can see from the photos, is not very noticeable. The
door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look nice
with no cracks or sun fading. The spare is still with the. This
Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no
aroma of cigarettes.
Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in great mechanical condition and it is
ready to be enjoyed. As stated above, there are nearly $5,000 in
receipts along with dozens of maintenance documents and notes that
go with this Silver Anniversary so it has been well maintained over
the years. The car starts right away every time, runs well, and
idles well. It drives terrifically and is smooth on the road and at
highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating
on the highway up to about 70mph, braking to stoplight, going
through some curves, and shifting through all the gears. Please
note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car
performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting
or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to
one side or the other. The transmission shifts smoothly throughout
the power band. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite
fast. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and
detailed as one can see in the photos.
The wipers work as do all the exterior lights, power antenna, turn
signals, dash lights, and horn. The a/c works and blows cold, one
can see the a/c compressor clicking on and engaging properly in the
video. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds but
high. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the
clock. The entire vacuum system for the headlights works with no
binding in the mechanism. Also, the headlights go up correctly with
either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch. The complete
operation of the headlights from both switch can be seen in the
video. The power locks do not work. Not enough can be said as to
how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the
T-tops out on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette is in great
condition and is an excellent driver. Special and Anniversary
