Sometimes the stars align and let something extraordinary happen,
and the Porsche 911 Carrera RS America is just that. When Porsche
announced that the new lightweight 964 Carrera RS would not made
for the U.S., there was a huge pushback from U.S. Porsche
enthusiasts who were ready to purchase a lightweight and focused
Carrera. Undeterred, these enthusiasts constantly hounded Porsche
to release a new model, and in 1993 Porsche relented with the 1993
Porsche 911 Carrera RS America. This 2-owner, all original paint
and interior RS America is a shining example of the breed. Optioned
with air conditioning and a limited slip differential, the car is a
perfect companion for any road.
This 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RS America was first registered in
June of 1993 in Connecticut. Painted in Guards Red and interior
trimmed in black cloth, this car was optioned with air conditioning
with full climate control and a limited slip differential.
Purchased by an enthusiast and collector, it was his first Porsche
and he kept fastidious care of the car. Always ensuring the best
for the RS America, he would drive the car regularly early during
his ownership and kept it garaged to preserve the paint finish and
interior. He moved from Connecticut to Tennessee and finally
settled in New Hampshire around 2000, keeping the Porsche with him.
In 2003 the Porsche would make its first visit of Porsche of Nashua
where it would start more than a decade of visits for its state
inspections and maintenance during his ownership. When he decided
that he was going to sell his car, this RS America was the car out
of all of his cars that he had kept for the longest time of 22
years. In 2015 the car was sold to its most recent owner in Texas
where Park Place Porsche took over maintenance duties. A collector
of RS America's and other Porsches, he drove this car less than 100
miles during his ownership and kept it stored it in his garage.
When the RS America arrived at Canepa, there were no questions
about the car's undying care given by its two previous owners. The
all-original guards red paint is in immaculate condition, the black
cloth interior is devoid of any noticeable wear or fading, and the
car starts with a quick turn of the key. With 30,937 miles on the
odometer since new, you would be hard pressed to be convinced of
that due to the excellent condition of the entire car, presenting
like a car with a quarter of the miles. Canepa entered the car into
the "Canepa Difference" process, giving the car a complete and
meticulous mechanical inspection confirming that every system was
working as intended. It then received Canepa's industry-leading
detail from front to back, ensuring that nothing was left
uncleaned. Washing underneath revealed all of the factory finishes
in pristine condition and was picture perfect. The car was then
given an extremely light foam pad-only polishing to make the
original Guards red paint that much better. After the process was
completed, it looks like a RS America that was just picked up from
a showroom floor.
This RS America offers the rare opportunity to own a car that
Porsche said that they wouldn't build. A car that Porsche
eventually relented to its customers in the U.S., convinced that
there was a market for a factory lightweight 964. With its all
original paint and interior in concours condition, recent service
history and only two owners, this 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RS
America is a collector and driver's dream.
