For Sale: 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis in Morgantown, Pennsylvania
In continuous production for 36 years, the Grand Marquis was the
longest-produced Mercury. In total, nearly 2.7 million were
produced, making it the best-selling vehicle sold by the brand.
Among Ford Motor Company models in North America, only the Ford
Econoline, Ford Mustang, Ford Thunderbird, Ford F-Series, and
Lincoln Continental nameplates have been produced longer. The
Panther platform served as the basis for Grand Marquis design for
32 years. Nearly unmatched by other automakers for longevity, the
external appearance of the Grand Marquis remained largely unchanged
for the last 19 years of its production life (along with its
engine, the 2011 model shared a number of body panels with its 1992
counterpart).
Many times, consigners bring us several cars at one time to sell
for them. Sometimes for obvious reasons revolving around client
relations, we take in units that may not necessarily be the true
definition of a classic (what this exactly is, I've yet to hear a
definitive answer) For consignment a clean nicely kept version of
the Marquis which in and of itself is a Classic based on its
longevity of production. Or we could call it a used car...either
way it's here for the taking!
Exterior
Light Ice Blue paint in overall good condition covers the exterior
of this car. Save for a spot on the roof where it is peeling and
has some bare metal exposed, the paint is holding up well. A black
padded canvas "Landau" style rear is added to the roof and is nice
and clean. Chrome and brite work are all good and blemish free.
Headlights are clear, and 17" painted wheels are all around.
Electronic touchpad numbers are on the doors for a keyless
entry.
Interior
Medium Light Stone leather showing some patina, dirt spots, and
folding cover the bench seats upfront, and in the rear. Smatterings
of this leather mix with faux burl panels and plastic on the door
panels, and dash. AC blows cold, and electronics like windows,
cruise control, door locks, seats and mirrors all work smoothly and
quickly. The headliner is in good condition.
Drivetrain
A 4.6 Liter single overhead cam V8 sits in the engine bay. A
4-speed automatic overdrive transmission is attached to the back of
the V8
Undercarriage
Some minor surface rust is seen on the undercarriage, but very
unremarkable. Traction control, and a 2.73 conventional axle are
seen. Some heavier surface rust is noted on the rear axle. All door
jambs are rust free and clean underneath the doors. Rubber weather
stripping is in good condition.
In overall good used condition, this 50,000 mile car will get you
to where you want to go, efficiently, and in comfort. What more
could you ask for?
