Vehicle Description
1937 Plymouth Custom
Cars may not be produced under the Plymouth name anymore but they
had a length history stemming all the way back to 1928. These
mopars are pretty unique especially when you start looking at
street rods. You can find multiple custom 30s era Fords at every
car show but when a Plymouth rolls in it always stands out. This 37
Plymouth humpback sedan has a great look and was very nicely built.
The all steel body is in good condition and very solid with no
signs of rust. It is painted in a very beautiful Dark Burgundy
metallic paint which has a great shine out in the sun. We just had
the car professionally detailed and the paint really pops. It does
have some scratches in spots but no dents. One of the coolest
features this vintage of classic has to offer is all of the ornate
chrome and stainless. This was back in the day when cars had unique
designs and demanded your attention. This car has some great
designs and all of the bright work has a beautiful shine. There is
a piece of side trim missing on the hood side panels in our
pictures but it does come with those pieces. Headlights were not
yet incorporated into the fenders at this time so it has the
original separately mounted headlights up front along with the fog
lights on the bumper and in back are 37 Ford lights on 37 Plymouth
stands. Adding a nice touch of class to the exterior is the nice
chrome spoke wheels which really look good on the car and are
wrapped with BF Goodrich tires.
Fold open the 4 piece hood from either side and you will find a 318
V8 motor out of a 1989 Dodge pickup. You can imagine that in this
business we get contacted regularly about vehicles that have Ford
bodies with Chevy motors. Some people love it but then the purists
won't even touch cars like that due to the mix match of car
manufacturers. That is part of what makes things like this Plymouth
so cool. Typically one would assume a car like this is sporting a
Chevy 350 but effort was put into this one to make sure it was all
Mopar. The 318 runs great and sounds great running down the road.
It features a fuel injected throttle body, a chrome air cleaner,
Mopar Performance valve covers and Street Performance headers
leading into the dual exhaust. Backing up the motor is a 727 3
speed automatic transmission. Some nice upgrades include the power
brakes with disc up front, power steering and the aftermarket AC
system. In addition to the body getting detailed the car also
received a fresh tune up to make sure everything was running
properly. During that process a new radiator was installed which
paired with the electric fans always keeps the car running smooth.
The front end was changed out with a Fatman Mustang II style
suspension which improves the ride and stance on these cars quite a
bit.
The interior of the car is done in a combination of Grey leather
upholstery with Burgundy carpets to match the paint. It is in great
shape and comfortable. This is a street rod you can take the whole
family cruising in because it has plenty of space with bench seats
in front in rear. It is also a 4 door with the suicide rear door
opening up to give full access to the rear seat. It used to be that
4 doors were less popular but in cars where the rear is suicide
from the factory a lot people actually prefer them. The condition
of the inside is very nice with little to no signs of wear. The
dash is painted to match the exterior and is topped with Classic
Instrument gauges, Vintage AC controls, and incorporate AC vents. A
painted to match Ididit column sits in front of the driver and
features a woodgrain Grant Banjo style steering wheel. A Lokar
shifter is routed through the floor and moves through the gears
well. The trunk of the car is finished out the Burgundy carpet as
well and is where you will find the remotely mounted battery and
spare wheel.
This fun car has a lot going for it and runs very well. We don't
think this thing will be around for long because in addition to
being a nice looking and driving street rod it has a great
price!
Unique street rods like this don't show up for sale everyday
especially for only $28,500.00!
