For Sale: 1950 Mercury Coupe in Mooresville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

The 1949-1951 Mercury coupes have long been a hot rodding cult classic and the choice of builders everywhere. The classic styling coupled with the Flathead V8 made for a perfect lead sled back in the day, and make for a perfect retro lead sled now. With no end to the creations possible with a classic Merc coupe, these cars are sure to be fan favorites for years to come! This particular 1950 Mercury Coupe for sale is just about everything you could want in an old school cruiser.

This 1950 Mercury Eight retains much of its original styling while simultaneously carrying a hint of hot rod everywhere it goes. The top hasn't been chopped, nor has the body been otherwise drastically altered, so perhaps this is what helps it retain a slight air of originality while showing off as a custom cruiser. The paint is a gorgeous metallic dark red that oozes class and shows well under any lighting. The fender skirts really help give it that lead sled aura, while the smooth chrome hubcaps and white walls subtly spice things up. Though it isn't one of those "in your face" customs, this Mercury is sure to draw a crowd just about anywhere you go! The body is clean and straight under that gorgeous paint job, and all of the seams are visible as they should be, not covered up like they often get when these Mercs are reworked.

Thought the exterior was gorgeous? Well, it is, but wait until you step inside! The gorgeous dark red theme carrys on right to the interior where you'll find nothing but a deep, beautiful red tone throughout. The seats are covered in velour while any painted surfaces have been made to match the exterior paint. The chrome in the dash adds just the right amount of contrast to tie everything together! Truly, the interior of this car is as stunning as the exterior and simply will not disappoint. All of the details have been addressed, and all components are showing very minimal wear.

Under the hood sits a vehicular legend, a 239ci Flathead V8! This appears to be a mostly original-spec Flathead that has been done up with minor upgrades inside and out. You'll notice that while it retains a mostly factory original appearance, there are assorted chrome accents. Additionally, someone took the time to paint various components the same metallic red as the exterior. Even the oil pan is painted that color! This car runs great and sounds great too; it gets great smiles-per-gallon! The engine bay is clean and tidy and continues to reflect the quality of the build this car received.

If this old Merc hasn't already impressed you, take a look at the receipts for the work performed on this car! This was a 3-year restoration that was just finished in February of 2019 and easily totals over $100k in restoration receipts, and we photographed a few of the larger receipts as proof.
