For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang in Spring, Texas

Vehicle Description

100% Original, Numbers Matching, California Car. No Rust, No Body Filler, No Salt. Built and sold at the San Jose, Ca, factory I 1968, it has been garage kept, only been wet when washed with 43,667 original miles. In 1986 it received a 100% Frame off restoration using 100% original parts. The original J-code numbers matching engine is a 302 4V. A “J-code” engine alone is a true piece of history.

The car has the original (Type C-4 AUT) 4 Speed Automatic and it is strong.

The car runs cool in the hot Texas summer with a brand new radiator, water pump, thermostat and upper and lower radiator hoses.

The 68’ Mustang Convertible is the first year Ford offered the in-dash factory AC in the convertible and this one has it. Previous models had aftermarket units bolted under the dashboard. This car has also the large original compressor, rebuilt to be compatible with R-34 freon. (R-12 freon is no longer available).

The car runs strong has with the heavy duty front and rear suspension found on the bigger block units. Notice the ride height, not soft and low like the underpowered 6 cylinder models. Looks, runs and drives great.

Interior looks as good as the outside. Canvas electric over hydraulic convertible top works perfectly.

Car has a couple hard to see paint chips or scratch from car doors etc. Factory AM radio. Power steering works great, handling is smooth and easy. The drum brakes are very good but are not power assist so you get to feel what driving was like back in the day.

Windshield washer is the original floor foot pump and it works perfectly.

Brand new water pump, radiator, thermostat and hoses. Car runs very cool.

Appearance is fantastic, constant head turner. Horns honk people wave it's like being in a one car parade.

This car will treat you right and last as long as you take care of it. No bad tendencies and a lot of fun to drive.

Below are some great questions people have asked. Posting to help you imagine this Pony in your stable.

(1) Are you the original owner? No

(2) When have you been using it? Garage kept by me since 2002 when I bought from my Dad who did the restoration in 1986. He had a Mustang parts company and was an expert in everything  66-68 Mustang. For advertisement and to keep his staff busy, when not disassembling car parts, they had restoration projects and those guys knew exactly where and how each part fit.. This was one of 3 show cars he entered in car shows and it won many for its high scoring originality. The car had 39k original miles in 2002 and is a little under 43k now. Mostly used for tootling around with kids and parades etc. Kids grown and it’s not used much anymore so I’m ready to give it a new home.

(3) Any mechanical issue(s)? No

(4) How much repair/restoration is needed? None it’s fully restored all original and I have an album containing many photos take during the rebuild. What's the mileage? 42667k

I have had this car for many years and my Dad had it many years before me. It has been a fantastic car. Maintained as drivable fully insured and passing state inspection every year. I have not had any major mechanical problems since I got it. It’s 51 years old so it does require a little love from the mechanic occasionally. But mechanics love to work on it

It’s stored as pictured in garage covered with car cover.

The photos of the VIN plate and pictures of various codes shows how to interpret the matching numbers to confirm matching.

I would prefer cash or cashiers check only.
