This Silver Ghost with Pickwick style coachwork was completed by
Willoughby & Co and features four individual seats, two-fold down
occasional seats, foot rail, wind down glass division, megaphone,
hand straps, extendable cigar lighter and roller blinds.
This rare right-hand drive example was built at the Rolls-Royce
factory in Springfield, Massachusetts. The car was completed in
December of 1924 and delivered to its first owner, the Swindle
Family, on August 6, 1925. It remained their personal transport up
until 1933.
Following the passing of Mr. and Mrs. Swindle the car was kept in
storage by the family for many years. Eventually it was sold to a
gentleman in North Hampton who shortly decided to part ways and
then sold the vehicle to Mr. Ron McLeod of Brisbane Australia
around 1989. Shortly thereafter the car was turned over to Sleeping
Beauties of Brisbane, Australia to complete a high-quality
restoration.
The vehicle again changed ownership in 1997 to Dr. John Matheson of
Sydney, Australia and he entered the car in several rallies
eventually selling the car in 2000. The car changed hands once
again in 2015, its radiator was rebuilt prior to the sale.
A fully documented car, it's accompanied by its original owner's
manual, service receipts, tools, and awards. The car has been
regularly serviced by a Rolls-Royce specialist. The car starts
easily and out on the open road the car performs as it should. The
engine pulls strongly and the car handles and stops efficiently.
Everything works as it should, including the vacuum windscreen
wiper. Turn indicators have been discreetly fitted into the
existing lights for modern day safety.
Please note that the title is in transit.
