purchase. As part of the Ford Heritage Program, the Mach 1 package
returned in 2003 as a high performance version of the Mustang.
After the initial years of production of the Mustang, Ford saw the
need to create high performance versions to compete with the Camaro
& Firebird. The Mach 1 was born and was so popular that Mustang
discontinued the GT from 1970 to 1982.
