This is a gorgeous European spec 1980 Porsche 930/ 911 Turbo in Hellblau Blue with Blue Interior is a performance icon. Currently in the possession of the second owner, it was purchased in 1990 from a dealership in Victoria, British Columbia. It is well-optioned with a Limited Slip Differential, Plain Electric Mirror on the right, Leather Sport Seats, Air Conditioning, and Electric Sliding Sunroof.
In 1975, Porsche began building the 911 Turbo cars to "gain homologation for the 1976 racing season". If you had the experience and the ability, these cars could be pushed to incredible performance with typical legendary Porsche handling.
The Porsche 930 engine displacement was increased to 3.3 liters in 1978 with an air-to-air intercooler helping to generate 300 hp. The rear "whale tail" spoiler was re-shaped and now called the "tea tray". The suspension benefitted from new anti-roll bars, firmer shock absorbers and larger diameter rear torsion bars. Porsche also upgraded the brakes to units similar to those used on the 917 race car.
As many know, due to changing emissions requirements, Porsche did not sell the 930 in Japan and the United States in 1980. They were, however, still available in Canada and Europe. Canada is where this car lived most of its life until it was brought to the states about 8 years ago.
This car is in excellent condition and was recently given a full appraisal. The appraiser indicated if a third-party inspection was desired, he would recommend this car for purchase without hesitation.
It was refinished in 2003 in its original color. The paint job was completed to a very high standard. In 2008, the engine was completely torn down and rebuilt. The car runs and drives to perfection and is currently registered for the road here in Arizona.
Everything on this car is factory correct and nicely maintained. When work was required, it was done using manufacturer parts and manufacturer standards. The one deviation from that is the original steering wheel was replaced with a Momo steering wheel.
