Chrysler dropped its four-cylinder models for the 1929 model year
renaming them Plymouths as all Chryslers featured six-cylinder
engines. The new models were introduced to the public in June 1928
and divided into three series: 65, 75, and Imperial. These were the
first Chryslers to feature built-in radiator shutters along with
Lockheed internal hydraulic brakes and Lovejoy shock absorbers as
standard. A 250-cu. in. 84-hp six-cylinder engine provided
motivation among all series.
At a cost of $1,550 before options, the company produced 6,414
Series 75 Roadsters for the model year. Chrysler quickly developed
a reputation for not only engineering excellence, but also for
performance. During the running of the 1929 24 Hours of LeMans, a
Series 75 Roadster finished 6th overall and 3rd in the Index of
Performance (Stoffel/Benoist). That same year at the 24 Hours of
Spa, two cars finished 6th (Stoffel/Rossignol) and 11th
(Hommel/Delvaux); while at the Mille Miglia, a similar car won the
5.0-litre Class, driven by Leonardi and Barbieri.
This Series 75 Roadster is a faithful recreation of the 1929
MM-winning Leonardi/Barbieri car. It was exhaustively and
professionally prepared between 2011 and 2015 for the Mille Miglia
Storica and Le Mans Classic at a documented cost of more than
$100,000 US. During preparation, a custom intake manifold with
three restored Winfield carburettors was fitted along with a newly
fabricated aluminium head. New brake and chassis fittings were
fabricated in addition to suspension components, exhaust, clutch,
ring-and-pinion gear and five custom Borrani hubs and wire
wheels.
An extensive history file dating to the 1960s documents the most
recent preparations as well as the car's prior life. Also included
in the sale are the original factory steel bumpers, artillery
wheels, fuel system, carburettor and intake manifold, folding top
and weather equipment.
Recently serviced and now a veteran of the 2012 Le Mans Classic,
2012 Grand Prix Nuvolari, and the 2013 and 2015 Mille Miglias, this
jaunty Chrysler is now ready for its new owner.

F�r das Modelljahr 1929 benannte Chrysler alle seine
Vierzylinder-Modelle in Plymouths um, und alle Chrysler Modelle
verf�gten fortan nur noch �ber Sechszylindermotoren. Die neuen im
Juni 1928 der �ffentlichkeit vorgestellten Chrysler Modelle wurden
in drei Serien aufgeteilt: 62, 75 und Imperial. Zum ersten Mal gab
es bei einem Chrysler K�hlerjalousien, hydraulische Bremsen von
Lockheed und Sto�d�mpfer von Lovejoy. Ein 4,1 Liter Sechszylinder
mit 84 PS war �ber alle Baureihen Standard.
Im Modelljahr 1929 wurden insgesamt 6.414 Series 75 Roadster zum
Preis von 1.550 US-Dollar ohne Extras hergestellt. Schnell erwarb
Chrysler sich einen Ruf nicht nur f�r exzellente Technik, sondern
auch sehr gute Fahrleistungen. Bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans im
Jahr 1929 schaffte es ein Series 75 Roadster auf den 3. Platz im
Index of Performance (mit Stoffel und Benoist) und auf den 6. Platz
im Gesamtklassement. Bei den 24 Stunden von Spa im gleichen Jahr
platzierten gleich zwei Roadster auf dem 6. (Stoffel/Rossignol) und
11. Platz (Hommel/Delvaux), w�hrend auf der Mille Miglia ein
�hnliches Fahrzeug die F�nfliter-Klasse mit Leonardi und Barbieri
gewann.
Dieser Series 75 Roadster ist ein originalgetreuer Nachbau des
1929er Mille Miglia Klassensiegers mit Leonardi und Barbieri.
Zwischen 2011 und 2015 wurde er f�r belegte 100.000 US-Dollar
umfassend und aufw�ndig f�r Teilnahmen an der Mille Miglia Storica
und den Le Mans Classic vorbereitet. Diese Arbeiten umfassten einen
spezialangefertigte Ansaugkr�mmer mit drei restaurierten Winfield
Vergasern sowie zahlreiche Fahrwerkskomponenten, Auspuff, Kupplung,
Differenzial und f�nf Borrani Speichenr�der mit speziell
gefertigten Naben.
Eine umfassende Dokumentation bis zur�ck in die 1960er Jahre belegt
die k�rzlich erfolgten Arbeiten ebenso wie die fr�here Historie des
Fahrzeugs. Zum angebotenen Fahrzeug dazu geh�ren die originalen
Stahlsto�stangen, Holzspreichenr�der, Kraftstoffanlage, Vergaser
und Ansaugkr�mmer, Faltverdeck und Wetterschutz.
Frisch gewartet ist dieser Teilnehmer an der Le Mans Classic 2012,
dem Grand Prix Nuvolari in 2012, und den Mille Miglias 2013 und
2015 nun bereit f�r einen neuen stolzen Besitzer.
