THE WHATTTTT CAR?
Based on the Nissan Micra platform the Nissan Figaro debuted the
Tokyo Auto-show in 1989 and was for sale in Japan to the waiting
public. There were originally 12,000 of these cars produced selling
out the second they hit the market. Nissan decided to produce
20,073 Figaro's at the Nissan Pike factory. There where over
200,000 people who per-ordered these cars so they held a lottery
for only a select few lucky enough to own one.
As one of the first retro cars to market the Nissan Figaro was the
precursor to the Volkswagen Beetle, Ford Thunderbird and the
Chrysler PT Cruiser. It compares to the Citroen 2CV and the Nash
Rambler with the convertible top.
Eric Clapton owns one and they are extremely rare in the U.S. Most
have ended up in England as a collector car.
Nissan Produced four different colors to go with the 4 seasons.
Lapis Green, pale aqua, emerald green, and this one Topaz mist.
This vehicle has been resprayed once in its original color.
The Figaro is a single liter turbo charged engine holding strong at
75HP topping out at around 110mph. Front wheel drive, 3-speed
automatic.
