Vehicle Description
Welcome to StreetDreamsTexas as we celebrate our 20th year in the
classic and muscle car business. The Austin-Healey sports cars of
the 1950's and 1960's were the product of a joint venture between
the Austin Division of the British Motor Corporation and the Donald
Healey Motor Company, a renowned automotive engineering and design
firm. This collaboration reached its zenith with the more powerful
and luxurious 3000 Mk III in 1964. Equipped with power front disc
brakes, roll-up windows, and a center console with walnut-veneer
dash, these cars have been embraced by Americans ever since. This
beautiful 1966 Colorado Red 3000 Mk III is an excellent example of
the breed and comes with a certified copy of the British Motor
Industry Heritage Trust factory record. This critically important
document (don't buy one without it!) lists the original features of
the car as it left the factory. This gem ( chassis
no.H-BJ8-L/36072) was well-equipped from the factory with wire
wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen,
overdrive, roadspeed tires, and a black tonneau cover. The current
owner bought the car at the 2006 British Car Union Show from the
3rd (?) owner. All subsequent work was performed by Mark Baker at
Sport and Specialty, a highly regarded expert. The interior, seats,
and upholstery are original, while the Colorado Red paint was
freshened 23 years ago and the Wilton wool carpets are new. All the
mechanicals were rebuilt or replaced for safety and reliability
(brakes, suspension, transmission, etc.). The engine was rebuilt in
2008 (excellent photos) and the tires, wheels, and hubs are
all-new. This is a fresh and usable classic that is currently
experiencing a steep appreciation curve. Don't wait too long!
