Vehicle Description
1967 Cobra Roadster
Cobra enthusiasts don't have to look very hard to find a great
variety of components and aftermarket choices and support.
Unfortunately, the amount of time and money involved in vetting
those parts and building a ground-up custom becomes simply
mind-boggling. Enthusiasts sometimes spend years writing check
after check to shop after shop creating a car that, by the time
it's finished, some of them don't even want.
For consignment a completed project and done very well to boot!
Antiques and Collectables provided the kit on the form of the body
and frame, plus some accessories like gauges, and headlights among
various other and sundry essentials. Throw in some heavy hitting
power, a top loader 4 speed and I can smell the rubber burning and
we haven't even twisted the ignition.
Exterior
Beautifully molded fiberglass infused with black eliminates any
need for painting or worrying about any chipping. Throw on a high
luster gel finish and put your sunglasses on because this thing is
gonna glow at night with a full moon...Hoooooowwwwwl! Hertz rent-a
racer Shelby Mustang Gold provides the stripes, and now we are
ready to go racin'. Stainless steel bumper jacks and nifty badging,
flashy 10 spoke wheels wrapped with 165's in front and 295's on
back and Jet Hot coated side pipes that snake along the rockers of
this machine and just growl at you, woah! I'm searching for the
nearest winding back road that the po-po would never even think of
patrolling.
Interior
Swing open the black vinyl paneled door with pleated storage, climb
behind the wood Cobra emblemed wheel, and stare upon a profusion of
gauges and switches embedded within a padded dashboard that are
sure to be enough to distract you just momentarily from the
upcoming 35MPH curve. Black carpet floods the floor, and stitched
"Cobra" carpet floor mats are thick enough to remove your shoes and
squiggle your toes in them. Remind yourself you are securely
fastened into the simple vinyl clad bomber style buckets with Cobra
embroidered 3-way harnesses, so push the edge on the G- forces to
come.
Drivetrain
'Keep it simple' is a good philosophy when it comes to performance
and reliability. And the builders of this clean classic, Dependable
Auto from West Chester, Pennsylvania did exactly that by equipping
the car with Ford's no holds barred 460ci big block. At the top of
the fully sorted mill, a polished air cleaner funnels oxygen and
mixes with fossils in a Holly 750 carburetor. That juice box rides
between jet black fuel lines, a clean intake and an MSD Pro-Billet
distributor that flames Mallory blazing red plug wires. Jet Hot
coated headers evacuate the spent gasses quickly down to the side
pipes. Strapped on back is a 4-Speed Toploader for you to grind
away at.
Undercarriage
Benefitting from powder coated technology this pristine
undercarriage shows nary a bit of any rust. All surfaces are clean
and mean and seen is a 2.92 posi-traction rear.
Great looks, great sound, great power, great performance, and it
will be great fun. Isn't life great?!
