This 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS is lightly travelled, with just a
little over 37,000 miles under its belt,
so it's got miles and miles of service left to give. It runs and
drives great - it's seen plenty of attentive care during its life -
and combines a still-fresh, great looking exterior with eager V8
power under its hood.
Chevy's Impala has quite a storied history that dates all the way
back to the late '50s, when it would soon undergo quite a number of
changes in being transformed into the coveted fixture on America's
boulevards it became known as. After being put on a nearly decade
long hiatus, the model reemerged in its seventh generation form,
equipped with a reshaped exterior and a road-hugging stance that
was noticeably lower to the ground than its sedan stablemate the
Caprice. The more enhanced SS version arrived shortly after, adding
upgraded power to the model's trademark spaciousness. The burgundy
shade draped over the exterior of this '96 provides a distinctive
look and still has its nice shine and smooth finish. This Chevy has
obviously spent most of its down time very well-sheltered, judging
from the paint's clean, unoxidized appearance, the fresh look of
the seals and light lenses, and the clear glass surrounding the
cabin.

Climb inside and you'll see plenty of additional evidence this
Impala has been treated with plenty of respect. Its gray leather
interior is still looking strong, with contoured front buckets that
show far less wear on their covers than you'd expect as they sit
over matching gray carpeting in the same condition. The center
console looks clean and shows very little of the discoloration that
usually comes with more than 20 years of service and farther
forward on the dash area, all the factory gauges, lights and
switches work just as intended. Being a relatively modern-day
muscle car has its decided benefits as far as comfort and
convenience options. This Chevy has its fair share of them,
including power windows and door locks, a tilt wheel, cruise
control, power seats, air conditioning and an AM/FM/CD player to
provide your audio soundtrack while behind the wheel. Driver and
passenger airbags offer an added measure of safety, while the
anti-theft system is a welcome option that helps ensure that this
Chevy stays in your possession. The trunk area is in very good
order, with no stains to detract from its appearance and a spare
inside wearing a matching cover.
Being so lightly travelled and well-cared for, this Chevy drives
essentially like a new car. Its 5.7 liter V8 springs into action
quickly and pulls with plenty of conviction, combining with a
smooth shifting 4-speed 4L60E transmission whose overdrive gear
brings RPMs way down at highway speeds. A look under the hood will
confirm that the engine compartment has been kept nice and clean
and every plastic and rubber component inside looks plenty fresh.
The Impala's substantial wheelbase combines with a still-fresh
suspension to provide a very smooth ride, while power disc brakes
at all four corners bring it to prompt, fade-resistant stops and
smooth power steering makes navigation easy as it cruises on a set
of very sharp spoked wheels dressed with Nankang Ultra Sport NS2
tires. Below, the undercarriage looks just as solid as you'd
expect, given the clean condition of the rest of the car.
This 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS offers the opportunity to get behind
the wheel of a well-powered and well-preserved Chevy sedan with
plenty of miles left in it - and at a very affordable price. Call
