Vehicle Description
First generation Monte Carlos are perhaps the most sought-after
iteration of the Monte Carlo model, or at least of the A-body Monte
Carlos. They have unique styling, clean lines, and were available
in a variety of exciting configurations.
This particular 1970 Monte Carlo just so happens to be one of those
exciting configurations; it's not some small block car, instead
it's powered by the #s matching 402 cubic inch big block under the
hood! With a classy feel on the inside and clean lines on the
outside, this car is all business under the hood. Once this puppy
gets warmed up, she really moves! Driving this car is a pleasure,
everything is dialed in just about the way it should be. It runs
and drives just the way you would expect it to! This is the correct
402 cubic inch big block V8 hooked up to a Turbo 400 transmission
and 12-bolt rear end.
The interior is gorgeous, comfortable, and in fantastic condition
overall. Aside from the luxurious bucket seats, the only thing that
stands out is the SS steering wheel. A classic interior styling
attribute of this era GM cars is the thruster-style automatic
shifter-it really makes you feel deliberate about shifting! The
power windows function properly, and add to the "gentleman's muscle
car" feel of this Monte. The simulated wood dash insert is the
final touch that really makes this Monte Carlo feel like a Monte
Carlo. Overall, the interior is full of original and original-style
parts to keep that classic feel!
The exterior is clean and straight, just how most people seem to
like them! You won't find any major flaws in the exterior of this
car. Even the vinyl top is in excellent condition. The only
exterior change from factory appearance is the tasteful addition of
larger American Racing 17" GM-style rally wheels. This car is in
its original sheet metal with factory splatter paint in the trunk.
As a final fun exterior fact, it has the optional factory passenger
side mirror!
If you're looking for a fun cruiser that's all business in the
engine bay, and all class on the inside, this just may be the car
for you! After all, when was the last time you saw an original
sheet metal first generation Monte Carlo?
