Offered For Sale: 1995 Mustang GT “Clarion Car”
In 1995, Clarion Audio purchased a fleet of 5 Mustang GTs to be “rolling sound labs” to
demonstrate the latest in Clarion portable car audio sound systems. The 5 cars were
sent to Clarion’s five national sales regions (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta,
Chicago and Allendale NY) and toured over 16 U.S. cities and over 2,000 Clarion
dealers. They also appeared at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and certain
IASCA (International Auto Sound Challenge Association) events.
Each car was custom painted by Doug Starbuck of Starbucks Auto Graphics in
Riverside, CA, using a combination of PPG and House of Kolor candy colors based on
a conceptual design by artist Kristina Magnasun. All were equipped with Eibach Sport
springs.
The cars were equipped not only with Clarion’s state-of-the-art sound system of the
day, but also with in-dash cellular phones and color TVs!

Along with the car, we have original copies of July 1995 Mustang Illustrated and
January 1996 Mustang Monthly magazines with special-feature articles on the “Clarion
Cars”, plus an original fold-out 8”x8” “Clarion Audio and Beyond” brochure all about
these unique cars. We also have all receipts for all custom engine work.
“WAYKOOL” is very fun to drive, and wins awards and gets lots of interest at all the car
shows and events we take her to. People love the look of the car and appreciate the
nostalgia and original equipment - both the power under the hood and all the additional
amplification equipment in the trunk! Urban legend has it that WAYKOOL was a SEMA
car.
This unique car has less than 33,000 original miles. Automatic transmission.
