A collectors dream come true! This is a true classic "SURVIVOR" automobile. Garage kept all its life, this one-owner 1953 Chevy Bel Air Sportsman Coupe is completely original inside and out. Original blue flame, 6 cylinder engine w/power glide automatic transmission, and the car still runs on the 6-volt electrical system. Optional equipment include: fender guards, power glide transmission, AM radio, heat & defrost, windshield washer, directional signals, back-up lights & more! This car was bought brand new in 1953 from Colonial Chevrolet, currently Hendrick Chevrolet, in Norfolk, VA and has been family owned since. Paint & interior are all original, and there are no rips or tears in the seat upholstery, door panels or headliner. I have had to replace some mechanical parts under the hood as well as the wheels & tires to keep the car operational, however, I have kept all original parts including the wheels & tires in case of a future rebuild. There is some mild corrosion on the passenger's door sill plate from the water valve leaking at some time during storage in the 1980's. Original factory radio resistors were repaired and the AM radio functions as originally designed. This car was truly only driven on Sundays as meticulously kept records document its true mileage. Maintenance is documented as the numerically increasing oil change stickers are attached to the drivers door jam. The car has never sat in the rain and never been smoked in. I also have 95% of the state inspection certificates that validate the 22,680 true miles on the car. I also have the title from 1985, original sales receipts, original key from the factory, case of motor oil from the cars production era and several other tidbits that make this car a true "survivor".
