Demon is a limited-edition car that's so oriented toward the track
it doesn't come with front passenger or back seats. They're options
-- priced at $1 each. Demons come off the assembly line sporting a
wide-body kit, a drag-strip-tuned adaptive suspension, and an
engine that makes 808 horsepower. This supercharged 6.2-liter V-8
is an evolution of the Hellcat's 707-pony HEMI but with beefed-up
internals and a larger rotary-screw blower. The car rolls on four
drag radials, with the rear wheels turning through the eight-speed
ZF 8HP automatic which features the first transmission brake on a
production car. While 100% street-legal, this purpose-built coupe
was born to run 1,320 feet at a time and includes a laundry-list of
go-fast drag-racing tricks. The heavenly SRT button accesses Drag
Mode which disables the cabin A/C, routing its cooling power to the
SRT Power Chiller, a device that drops the intake temperature for
optimum performance. Prior to launch the factory line lock allows
for a four-to-five second burnout to heat up the tires. In position
at the staging lights activating the TransBrake preloads the
driveshaft and transmission with torque. Hitting all the right
buttons in the right sequence, and you will destroy all other
production cars. Hold the revs at about 1700 rpm and bury the
accelerator. The first launch is downright shocking. The TorRed
Demon hits a peak acceleration of 1.80-gs' and will lift its front
tires off the ground for a few feet. The rest of the experience is
a blur of speed and power that is guaranteed to leave a permanent
smile on your face. Dodge only produced 3,000 of these incredible
machines. Included is the customized Demon Crate that contains all
the hardware you need to unlock the car's full track potential.
