For Sale: 1930 Ford Highboy in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

Highboy Roadsters remain popular street rods for many reasons. They are a nod to the original hobbyists who started modifying street cars back in the day. They are light and fast, especially with modern running gear. They just look cool. And you probably have your own reasons for wanting one besides those. Check out this sweet ride and see if it stirs your desires.

The shape is timeless, simple, and minimalist. These days they get dressed to impress and are taken out on special occasions. This one is an all steel Brookville body, and started by getting nicely dressed up in a classic Burgundy. Pushing the front axle all the way forward gives the car that long, low, look. Leaving the fenders off has always allowed the builders of these cars to run larger wheels and tires and it also helps to show off all the chrome of the drop axle, steering, brakes, and leaf spring. Polished stainless-steel United Pacific headlights are perched proudly between the waterfall grill and the wheels. A full hood, no outside door handles, and the smooth curve of the trunk as it cascades down gives the car super clean lines. From the rear you can see the Winters quick change rear end peeking out from underneath as well as the suspension components that will try to keep those massive tires planted on the ground.

Open the door and you will find a simple but comfortable Gray interior. The door panel doesn't get any simpler in its clean sheet of Gray with a chrome door release and a leather limiting strap. There is gray vinyl trim behind the bucket seats, and they have pleated seating surfaces with very supportive smooth side bolsters. A Lokar shifter rises from the floor between them and the beefy 3-spoke steering wheel mounted on a tile column feels good in your hands. There is a tach mounted low on the that column and mounted across the dash are VDO gauges with the speedometer in the center with oil pressure and water temp to the left and fuel and voltage gauges to the right. Carpeting lines the floor and ties this simple interior together nicely.

Open the hood and you will find a 350 cubic inch crate motor nestled down in an engine bay that is polished up as nicely as the outside of the car. And that motor is dressed to impress too with a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner that is feeding a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer Air Gap intake manifold. Custom valve covers are polished up nicely and a Mallory distributor triggers a Promaster ignition coil. Long tube headers are heat wrapped as they head out to Flow Pro Max mufflers and a Walker radiator keeps things cool with the help of an electric fan. The underside of this Highboy is mirror worthy also with plenty more chromed up steering gear than you can see from the outside to show off up front while out back the coil over shock set up is all polished up too, and getting a clear view of that Winters differential would be a good thing too. The rubber meets the road through 285/79R15 tires in the rear and 195/70R14s in the front mounted on those beautiful Boyd Wheels.

This car is old school, light, fast, fun, and gorgeous. Come on down and see if it stirs your desire to take it out and show it off and play with it on cruise nights. Then take it home and start making plans.
