Vehicle Description
If ever there was a true German muscle car, BMW's E63 M6 is it. As
the brand's flagship combination of power, comfort and handling, it
received many accolades and won diehard fans around the globe. In
terms of relative size, price and performance, the M6 really had no
competition. And with its unbeatable combination of white glove
amenities and Formula One bloodlines, it provided the ownership
experience of a lifetime. This 2007 M6 combines a 500 horsepower
V10 with an athletic 6-speed and a sophisticated aluminum
suspension to become the ULTIMATE expression of The Ultimate
Driving Machine!
APPEARANCE
There's just something about a monochromatic BMW that conveys an
esteemed essence of aggressive performance and excellent driving
dynamics. This one-owner coupe wears a great looking coat of
original Alpine White 2-stage that's been babied and protected
since it was new. That paint, which sported 3M Clear Bra from 2009
to 2018, highlights a clean profile that's certified by a clean
CARFAX report. And, according to the car's one and only owner, that
profile was always stored in a cushy garage.
BMW knew that somewhat dramatic aesthetics would be needed when
they dusted off their legendary M badge. And, accordingly, the M6
is equipped with a host of visual upgrades that, while significant,
flow extremely well with its already impressive design theme. At
the front of the car, a deep valence swaps standard 6 Series fog
lights for wider air intakes that help cool the big engine. Above
that valance, traditional BMW 'kidney grilles' reflect swiveling
Xenon headlights that are complete with small washers. Behind those
lights, thermoplastic fenders frame an aluminum hood, which founds
a requisite propeller emblem opposite tinted glass. Those M-branded
fenders flow into aluminum, Soft Close doors while auto-dimming
mirrors complement a great looking carbon fiber roof panel. Beneath
those doors, aggressive rockers stretch toward a re-styled bumper,
which incorporates traditional, quad-outlet exhaust tips at the
sides of a mild diffuser. And above that bumper, a second propeller
emblem caps a lightweight aluminum trunk lid that's framed by
gridded LED taillights.
POWER
One lift of the hood is all it takes to throw the all-business,
black-tie subtlety of this car's sleek exterior right out the
driver's window. Perfectly wedged between the fenders, BMW's
Formula One-inspired 5.0 liter S85 V10 blends an impressive 500
horsepower and 380 lb./ft. of smooth torque. Designed as a
high-revving, all-aluminum thoroughbred that utilizes a wide power
band to create over 100 horsepower per liter, the S85 combines 12
to 1 compression with an astonishing 8,250 RPM redline. Notable
hardware includes a forged steel crank, forged Mahle pistons,
variable valve timing, ten individually controlled throttle
butterflies, quasi-dry-sump lubrication and 4-valve, CNC-machined
cylinder heads. However, despite that host of track-proven
upgrades, none of the car's traditional BMW silk has been
compromised: this coupe behaves as a well-mannered executive
express until your right foot outweighs your better judgment.
According to the car's owner, the engine has been meticulously
maintained by Fields BMW of Winter Park, Florida. And nothing, from
the "BMW V10" branded engine cover to the fresh hoses and spotless
battery terminals, shows any signs of heat damage or
weathering.
DRIVABILITY AND ATHLETICISM
Naturally, a powerhouse like the S85 V10 needs a whole lot of top
notch hardware to back it up. Originally, the M6 could only be
optioned with a 7-speed sequential manual slushbox. But luckily,
the row-it-yourself brigade made so much noise that BMW eventually
threw in a traditional Getrag 6-speed. That slick-shifting manual,
one of only 323 installed in 2006-2010 M6 coupes, sends power to a
standard limited-slip differential. An electronic,
driver-selectable suspension, comprised of Macpherson strut front
and multi-link rear set-ups, makes excellent use of the car's 50/50
weight distribution. Stops are provided by four cross-drilled
discs, which are monitored by standard anti-lock technology. M
Dynamic Stability Control, M All Season Traction Control and fully
electronic brake distribution turn that already serious performance
into serious curve carving prowess. And the final piece of the
performance upgrade is a set of positively gorgeous M wheels, which
wear 255/40ZR19 Continental Extreme Contact radials in front of
285/35ZR19 Continental Extreme Contact radials.
LUXURY
Inside the car, it's all about traditional Old World luxury, with
Black Merino leather, acres of carbon fiber, and every electronic
option BMW could think of built into their infamous iDrive system.
The supple hides covering the seats show hardly any wear at all,
and the stitched skin covering the dash and door panels is still as
tight as when it left the factory. Crisp telemetry allows the
driver to keep an eye on vitals while a centered iDrive screen
handles essentially all the car's other functions. A slick "M"
branded shifter toggles below dual-zone climate control and a
13-speaker Harmon/Kardon premium sound system. Premium touchpoints
include a suede headliner and a leather-wrapped, "M" branded
steering wheel. And the usual assortment of luxury appointments and
convenience features are all present and accounted for, including
Bluetooth, navigation, front and rear parking assist, Cruise
Control, an optional Head Up Display and optional Comfort
Access.
