Following the success of the "square body" Chevrolet pickup,
General Motors needed to come up with something really great to
replace it. Working off of what GM knew consumers wanted, the
GMT400 was born. An instant hit with buyers, the GMT400 proved to
be a very adequate square body replacement and many can still be
seen putting in the daily work of a truck. In recent years, they've
developed an enthusiast following much like the square body
did.
This example is just about as well-preserved as they come. As
common as these trucks still are, clean and low-mileage examples
are now highly sought after. With most GMT400s beaten and battered
these days, finding one with under 100,000 miles is quite a feat.
Finding an example with less than 50,000 miles is more impressive
still, and finding one with under 10,000 miles is just about
unheard of. This 1996 GMC Sierra K1500 is equipped with the Z71
package, and has what is believed to be 8,863 actual miles.That's
not a typo! We were skeptical too, but the Car Fax verifies it as
well! This truck has just under 9,000 actual miles. What's more,
the condition of the truck backs up the mileage claim, 100%. There
is nothing bad to be said about this vehicle, and all of the
"usual" damage and wear areas are in excellent condition.
The exterior is nearly perfect, with no damage, rust, or even
normal wear. This truck has seen such minimal use, that it would be
hard to have gathered the normal battle scars. Even the bed is
nearly immaculate! There are, of course, some scratches here and
there-after all, it is a truck and the bed sees the most abuse. The
previous owner has had a rubber bed mat and tailgate cover in place
for a long time, likely since the truck was new. These accessories
have also helped keep the bed in excellent condition. Minor
blemishes aside, this Sierra must be one of the lowest mileage
GMT400s there is and certainly one of the best preserved.
The interior also reflects the mileage claim and is certainly a
testament to the minimal use and extreme care this truck has seen.
The seats have no obvious wear on them, and neither they nor the
carpet has any damage or stains. The original radio is still in
place, and the dashboard is in perfect condition. Though some
plastic pieces show some age, nothing seems to show wear.
Additionally, this truck is equipped with the fold-down center
console allowing the operator to have either an armrest or a full
bench seat.
Under the hood is the original Chevrolet 305 V8. The engine and bay
are perhaps the most obvious testament to the condition of this
truck, with mostly original parts still in place and no cosmetic
damage. This truck runs like a new truck, as it should, given the
mileage.
This is a vehicle that the pictures tell the whole story. What you
see in the photos is what it looks like in person! This truck is
truly a survivor and is simply immaculate. If you missed out on
