Vehicle Description
This 1966 International Scout 800 is an LS swapped beast that has
received a total mechanical restoration to make it run, stop,
drive, and ride more efficiently and safely while also making it a
lot more fun to drive. There are about 2100 miles on it since the
swap and we have to tell you this thing is so much fun to drive!!!
Mechanically it is problem free and ready to roll. Everything is
working great!! You will notice that they left the body untouched
during the process and you will either think this is really cool or
you will want to finish it up. The good news is you can drive it
while you are deciding. Unsure if it is the original paint or not,
but if it was repainted it was done quite awhile ago. The body is
super solid, but the floors were professionally replaced as they
were getting to that point. Other than the floors, everything else
looks good and there were no other patches that we could find.
Again, this Scout is solid and would be easy to get ready to be
painted if that is what you wanted. They also added the rear bumper
tire carrier to this which gives it a great look.
The interior is pretty basic and you can see they put in new seats
that were reupholstered. They also added new Door Seals. Everything
else was left as stock except for the gauges which were all
replaced with Speed Hut Electric Gauges to mimic the original Scout
800 layout. They have built in GPS in the Tach and Speedo which is
pretty cool too. They put in a new wiring harness so there would be
no electrical issues and added LED lighting on the inside.
Windshield Wipers work and they are Electric. They did add a custom
storage box to the interior which is a nice touch.
The drivetrain on this Scout is where the real value comes in. The
engine is from a 2003 and it is a 5.3L Vortec. It had 72,000 miles
on it when it was installed and they added another 2100 to it. They
did put a new engine harness and Custom Tuned ECM in it when it was
installed. It has an Aluminum Radiator with dual electric fans.
This engine runs fantastic and fires up with the turn of the key.
Transmission is the NV3500 5 Speed Manual which is a bulletproof
transmission. Transfer Case is the DANA 300 and it has custom CV
driveshafts front and rear. Axles are both DANA 44 out of a Scout
II and both were rebuilt. They added a Spring Over Axle Lift and it
was done right so this Scout drives down the road beautifully.
Front Axle was clocked at 6 Degrees to allow it to drive excellent
at 75MPH. They added Bilstein shocks to all 4 corners, Scout II
Steering Box with high steer cross over steering (this = tight
steering), all new steering shafts and u-joints. For stopping they
installed Hydro-boost Brakes with Discs up front...all new hoses,
lines, and proportioning valve. To set it off they added 5 new
Cooper STT Tires on black wheels which gives it a great look. The
last custom thing they added was a dual gas tank setup-20 Gallons
in the Rear and the original 10 Gallon Tank. More range!
We hand pick each vehicle, drive it, inspect it, and make sure it
is ready for you to enjoy! We drive what we sell so that we can
give you a first hand and accurate report on how the vehicle runs
and drives.
