The name "DeVille" is derived from the French de la ville or de
ville meaning "of the town". In French coach building parlance, a
coupe de ville, from the French couper (to cut) i.e. shorten or
reduce, was a short four-wheeled closed carriage with an inside
seat for two and an outside seat for the driver and this smaller
vehicle was intended for use in the town or city (de ville).
For consignment a very clean, very straight, very nice, very fairly
priced 1979 Cadillac. A Florida car which was undercoated at the
dealership and remains this way today, this all original car has
led a pampered life.
Exterior
Beautiful Colonial Yellow respray paint covers extremely solid,
clean, straight steel panels throughput. Bumper fillers are in very
nice condition. Wonderful chrome, stainless steel trim, and brite
work throughout. Noted is the top of the rear bumper there is
slight fading due to the Florida sun shining through the garage
door window! This is a rare d'Elegance with a vinyl top delete,
which displays a very clean painted only line from top to bottom.
Stunning Cadillac wire wheel covers with new radial white wall
tires covering them are seen all around.
Interior
Burnished Gold Venetian Velour Cloth (Pillow style cushions) cover
the front 50/50 bench seat, and the massive rear fixed bench.
Tangier carpeting, door pull handles, and "d'Elegance" emblems
among other niceties seen on this luxurious car. Dashpad is mint
condition and this Cadillac has all the conveniences such as
climate control, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, power
brakes, power steering, power antenna, and an AM/FM Stereo. Lest we
forget, plenty of burl to go around.
Drivetrain
The original 425ci 4-barrel sits in an immaculate engine bay.
Wonderfully smooth, the Turbo 400 transmission is bolted on back.
Noted in the engine bay is a lack of corrosion. Noticeable is the
excellent shine on all hoses, valve covers, brake cylinders,
reservoirs and air cleaner housing. All original here too.
Undercarriage
Driven sparingly and used as a show car, it reflects glowingly on
the underside of this 40-year-old luxury automobile. Totally rust
free, and very solid is all one can notice, except for the shine
there too!
