Vehicle Description
Can a vehicle be popular and out-of-the-ordinary at the same time?
Absolutely, and here's a great example. It's a 1971 GMC K5 Jimmy in
light yellow and white that stands out in more ways than just its
height. First of course, it's a GMC with that superb chrome grille
and quad headlights. The color combination of yellow and white pops
in the sun and looks great at night too. Inside is a beautifully
restored saddle tan bucket seat interior with all the uplevel trim
you only get on a GMC with the Custom Sport Truck option. It also
has the optional rear seat. It sports a center console, ammeter,
oil, and temp gauges, and the stock steering wheel. The entire truck
is refreshed including the engine. New chrome, new stainless steel
trim, complete weather stripping along with some nice detail in the
engine room and underneath add to the stunning impact of this
Jimmy. If popular means "liked, admired, or enjoyed by many," that
fits the drivetrain to a tee. A 350 4-barrel provides the power.
The engine was rebuilt with only the addition of coated headers for
a little more power, fuel economy and, of course, sound. The power
is transmitted through a Turbo 350 automatic and a 2-speed transfer
case to drive all four wheels. 3.73 gears are perfect on or
off-road. Front wheel lock hubs assure that you reach your
destination. And those wheels are gorgeous rallyes with trim rings
wrapped in Goodrich All-Terrain TA's. This is a well-equipped Jimmy
with about 49,000 original miles that has been freshened up for you
to drive on or off the highway. You can go out and get it dirty, or
take it to show. Either way, this is a solid truck and a solid
investment.
