After the quantum leap forward for the 1955 model year with the
introduction of Chevrolet's small-block V-8 engine, 1956
represented another big step forward for the Corvette. With its
first major styling revision, the Corvette resembled its original
design from 1953, yet was modernized with new fenders,
chrome-rimmed headlights and the car's now iconic side coves. A
plethora of other features were added to make the car more
liveable, which included wind-up windows, an adjustable passenger
seat and external door handleswelcome changes from the spartan
earlier models. Chevrolet also offered the Corvette with a handful
of optional extras, helping customers to personalize their new
car.
Equipped with the highly desirable options of dual four-barrel
carburettors and a matching hardtop, this 1956 Corvette is
beautifully finished in two-tone Artic Blue with Silver coves over
a red leather interior. Prior to traversing the Atlantic, the
Corvette was fully restored in 2012 in the U.S. and was owned by an
enthusiast in Alabama. Shipped to Germany after the completion of
the restoration, it was purchased by an owner in Switzerland in
2016 and resides there today.
Undoubtedly America's most iconic sports car of the 1950s, this
first-generation Corvette is ready to be enjoyed by its next
owner. To view this car and others currently consigned to this
