For Sale: 1941 Willys Coupe in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Like fashion, the collector car market is cyclical. And, like fashion staples, there are some cars that never go out of style. With that in mind, you just can't go wrong with a ground-pounding Willys. Featuring an impressive roster of components, a supple leather interior and an awesome 540 cubic inch Merlin V8, this stunning custom is poised to draw big attention and make big fans. And if you're looking for a go-to piece that dominates the strip and stops the show, it's your ticket to street rod couture!

AMERICA'S CAR

This head-turning Willys Americar is a high quality tribute that's been hand-prepped, dipped in Metallic Burgundy 2-stage, and finished to a much higher standard than anything that rolled off pre-war assembly lines. Founded on smooth Street Beasts fiberglass, the car was assembled around 2006, and while its shape is ultra-traditional, a few choice tweaks provide unique personality. The hood flips forward to allow onlookers the glory of basking in 540 cubic inches of polished V8. Lightly smoked glass keeps the cockpit both comfortable and intimate. Chrome mirrors and polished wipers add a little form and function. And everything is bookended by a classy chrome grille and an automatically retracting tag bracket. It's hard to find any well-done street rod that doesn't turn heads and inspire stares. But this car, with its excellent stance, sublime paint and well-planned detailing, makes most custom builds seem amateur and second-rate.

EVEN MERLIN THE WIZARD WASN'T AS MAGICAL AS THIS MERLIN V8!

While belief in the supernatural might seem a little far-fetched to some, a little seat time in this Willys will make you a passionate devotee of the cult of power! Featuring a balanced, 540 cubic inch Merlin V8 that's fitted with a Dragonslayer crank, Callies rods, a custom Comp cam and JE pistons, this sleek classic is more than just some pretty parking lot poseur. At the top of the car's World Products mill, coated Holley carburetors mix air from a polished, shotgun-style intake with high octane dinosaurs that travel through stainless lines, braided hoses, a chrome Mr. Gasket gauge and Aeromotive pressure components. At the base of those carbs, a polished Weiand blower rides between familiar Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, which anchor quality Crane rockers under polished valve covers and chrome, bowtie-branded breathers. At the back of those heads, a modern points distributor sequences fire through red MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Cooling is provided by a polished Weiand water pump, which is sandwiched between a polished overflow tank, two electric puller fans and a heavy duty Be Cool radiator. Exhaust gets expelled by wrapped fender headers. And naturally, this Willys clean engine bay is a sea of first rate hardware, from its chrome brake reservoir and high quality MSD ignition all the way to its chrome-capped Cloyes timing set and custom Moroso oil pan.

CUSTOM IS AS CUSTOM DOES

Behind that professionally built engine, a cooled TPI Turbo-Hydramatic 400, which comes complete with automatic overdrive, twists a custom Denny's driveshaft. At the back of that driveshaft, a narrowed and braced Strange 9-inch spins streetable 3.23 gears. That first class drivetrain rolls on a custom, square-tube chassis, which cages adjustable Strange coil-overs in a traditional ladder bar rear-clip. Opposite that clip, a proven Mustang II front-half centers modern rack-and-pinion steering between tubular control arms and two more Strange coil-overs. Serious stops to counter the car's serious speed are provided by four power-assisted discs. Spent gases are jettisoned by neatly packaged side pipes that growl through glasspack-style mufflers and polished stainless tips. And at the corners, a slick set of polished Boyd Coddington wheels spin 26x8.00R18 Mickey Thompson Sportsmans in front of 31x18.00R20 Mickey Thompson Sportsmans.

AS YOU WOULD EXPECT

Pop the car's lightweight doors and you'll reveal a custom-tailored cabin that's ready for cruising. Aftermarket, racing-style buckets stretch tight leather hides beneath a 4-point roll bar and 5-point Pro Series G-Force harnesses. Auto Meter supplied the sporty looking gauges, which are arrayed across a body-matched dash. A Kenwood CD player bumps tunes to crisp Kenwood speakers. The driver harnesses the Merlin's power through a polished and wrapped steering wheel, which laps a polished Ididit column. A B&M Pro Stick shifter plays well with trick pedals. And details are as nice as you'd expect, with conveniences like heat and modern power windows leading a shaved and fully finished trunk.

Willys is an icon, and this fully sorted Americar puts a highly unique spin on a very familiar face. If you're looking for a fully-sorted bruiser that's blindingly fast and aesthetically exhilarating, call, click or visit www.RKMotors.com and experience this handsome street rod!
