Vehicle Description
The second generation Type 2, also known as the Bay-Window was
manufactured from 1967 through 1979: model years 1968 through 1980.
One of the largest changes was the loss of the distinctive front
windshield. It was also a little larger and heavier than the first
generation of buses.
As the years went on, there were subtle changes and facelifts,
however the overall design stayed the same. There were also many
engine changes through the years and as some die-hard Bus people
will point out is that even though the power increased as the years
went on, so did some of the problems. The earlier engines were
easier to work on. These iconic buses have had a multitude of uses
spanning the globe, from Fire trucks to ambulances and utility use.
They are also becoming extremely valuable as everyone wants to get
their hands on one.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1971 VW Bus for your
consideration. The bus was repainted 5 years ago, and at this time
a new custom vinyl interior was installed along with a sweet hard
wood floor. The engine was rebuilt 5 years ago by a local shop. It
rides on new tires and has a roof rack. The body and paint are not
perfect, however this is not a typical mid-west rust-bucket. This
classic VW is ready for a road trip and has been used on several
small trips. It holds the road and runs well. Don't miss your
opportunity to a classic VW Van!
