Pictured is a Dealers Delivery car: 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS with a Prototype frame underneath. This car was built BEFORE the Z-16s were started, even though this is another Z-16 model: VIN # 138675Z123967. Being a Dealer’s Delivery car the dealer himself could have go this in any color.
Even though this car was built at another plant in Fremont, California, the car is still a prototype that exists before the Z-16s. I talked to the author of the Chevelle data and guide book, Dale McIntosh, and he stated that he had never seen this frame and suggested that this was another prototype, too. I also talked the caretaker of the Chicago Museum about 5-6 years ago and he suggested this car should be in the museum but because I didn’t have the original drivetrain, they were not able to take it.
This car does have a CLEAR title. State Patrol examined the car to make sure that the original tag was on it so that he can process the car for registration. The original tag clarifies what the interior and color of car is supposed to be, a white car with blue interior.
The Z-16 motor advertised with the car is not the original for this car but is included with the car as extra. I do have a 2 speed and the 283 motor that goes in the car that are matching same year, 1965.
