Vehicle Description
You sure don't come across classics with a backstory like this 1956
Ford Fairlane Victoria very often. After having been securely
stashed away for a full 40 years, it then received a careful
restoration both inside and out, so this sharp looking cruiser
occupies a very rare space, as it's now looking its best after
having logged only a little over 49,000 miles in its 60-plus years
of life.
There are just so many inspired styling cues that set this classic
Ford apart from its more commonly seen counterparts. Up front, its
deep-set headlights loom over an elaborate front grille and extra
beefy bumper and are surrounded by sharply defined enclosures with
a strong forward incline. Just above them, chrome trim adorns the
tops of the fenders before descending to the midpoint of the doors
and across the quarter panels. All of the chrome and brightwork are
very fresh and sit against a backdrop of Colonial White - this
Ford's original color - that's in great shape, with a strong shine
and smooth texture. Fairlanes of this era featured sharply curved,
panoramic front windshields and long spacious cabins that really
emphasize the surrounding glass, all of which is unblemished and
crystal clear. The sturdy frame on this classic has served it well
- after all this time, there are no signs of sagging and the body
panels appear to be in very precise alignment. The trunk seems
nearly big enough to fit a small car inside and with its deck lid
raised, you can see that it's also in very solid shape.
The blue and white interior has been thoroughly refurbished to
factory specs and really looks great. The bench seating in both
front and back features nicely fitted covers that mix vinyl and
cloth to great effect as the front and rear seats loom over a fresh
expanse of deep blue carpeting. There's no doubt that a sheltered
existence went a long way toward preserving this Fairlane's great
looks, but it's still pretty impressive to witness what that
shelter, combined with some skilled craftsmanship where needed, has
yielded - the door panels fit as snugly to their steel frames as
they did when new, the white headliner running over the top shows
not so much as a wrinkle and the dash area is in great condition,
with no cracks in sight and the assortment of original factory
gauges in the instrument cluster still clear and readable. Just
above, a pair of matching two-tone sun visors has been added - a
great finishing detail.
Underneath the hood you'll find a very nicely detailed engine
compartment, at the center of which sits what is believed to be the
original 292 cubic inch Thunderbird V8, decked out with a spotless
silver air cleaner and a pair of black valve covers that contrast
nicely with its orange block. The engine is in great shape,
starting right up and running very smoothly as it teams with the
also believed original Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. A
Pertronix ignition has been added to maximize available spark and a
new radiator sits up front to up this Ford's dependability in real
world use. The drum brakes at all four corners, along with the
master cylinder, were also recently replaced for dependable
stopping ability while power steering makes this classic easy to
navigate on its set of stock 15" wheels outfitted with new Goodyear
bias ply white walls for just the right vintage appearance.
It's not often that you encounter a classic of this era that greets
the present looking and running at the top of its game, so this
1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria represents a truly unusual opportunity.
