Vehicle Description
2018 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
A familiar face was behind the Grand Sport, one Zora Arkus-Duntov.
The Corvette's first ever lead engineer, along with racer Briggs
Cunningham, entered three nearly stock Corvettes in the 24 Hours of
Le Mans. The Corvettes had been upgraded with 283 "Fuelie" engines,
mechanically supplying fuel injection. The Corvette upset the
Europeans in the large GT class, placing first and eighth overall.
The Corvette shared the podium with Ferrari, Aston Martin and
Porsche. RED colored duct tape, slapped on hoods /fender so pit
crews could easily identify which driver was in which of three 1963
Grand Sport Corvettes, from a distance. As they say the rest is
history, and why the stripes are there.
For consignment a 2018 Grand Sport Corvette clad in original
Admiral Blue and of course the red fender stripes, and an interior
that begs you to sit in its two tone glory!
Exterior
Admiral Blue with 2 red stripes as we know history about, painted
aluminum wheels (black) with red stripe combine to make this car a
stunner. Carbon fiber is present on the roof panel, which is also
painted admiral blue. Chromed badging is seen and use very
sparingly. Some black accenting can be seen on the front splitter,
front vents, rear spoiler, and lower integrated rear bumper.
Interior
GT Bucket seats wrapped with Adrenaline Red and dark gray suede
inserts, have 8 way adjustability, and a heated seat option. The
red leather continues to wrap the center console, some dash
accenting and upper dash on the driver's side. The suede continues
to the A pillar, headliner and visors. A leather wrapped
telescoping steering wheel fronts the dash which has a multitude of
controls to have hands on functioning while driving. A drivers
information center screen is seen in the console and can control
all aspects of the car, and includes a 2D/3D navigation screen,
curb view camera, and backup camera. This screen can also be
controlled by the buttons on the steering wheel. Keyless entry,
remote rear deck opening, power windows, and power locks which are
all programmable are noted.
Drivetrain
A 6.2 Liter V8 DI engine attaches to a 7-speed manual transmission
with active rev matching. Electronic Limited Slip Differential, a
differential cooler, and a rear axle with a 3.42 ratio is seen.
Undercarriage
An all-aluminum frame, as well as aluminum with carbon nano
composite underbelly components help the car maintain its 50/50
weight balance, as well as enhance power to weight ratio. Magnetic
selective ride control with performance traction management, Brembo
front and rear performance brakes, and a performance exhaust are
seen on this factory to showroom car.
