The Jeepster is an automobile originally produced by
Willys-Overland Motors from 1948 to 1950. It was developed in hopes
of filling a gap in the company's product line, crossing over from
their "utilitarian" proto SUVs and trucks to the passenger
automobile market; essentially the first "crossover" vehicle. The
basic model included numerous deluxe features and interior fittings
in addition to a high level of standard equipment that cost extra
on other automobiles. A total of almost 20,000 were
manufactured.
This 1948 Willy's Jeepster is finished in Yellow, has an offsetting
vinyl interior in Burgundy and has a nice soft top with side
curtains in Black. The owner states that the mileage is actual
which is reasonable given that these sorts of vehicles would never
have been driven long distances. The car was rotisserie restored in
1978 and pictures are available. The car has some paint issues but
nothing that needs to be dealt with or that takes away from the
overall impression of the car.
This 1948 Willy's Jeepster, a classic American icon, is in overall
very good condition; the body, floors and frame are solid with no
serious rust. The car runs and drives great (you can hear the 2.2
liter Inline 4 running in the video), the "three on the tree"
gearbox and clutch operate as designed and overall, this car will
provide its new owner a fun summer ride.
This car is quite rare and interesting to collectors, If you are
