For Sale: 1976 Pontiac Firebird Formula in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

This sinister 1976 Pontiac Firebird Formula Custom is a beast and a proven autocross participant.  As the PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) paperwork documents this car was sold by Hawkins Pontiac located in Tacoma, WA. It was ordered as a highly optioned original Starlight Black car with black interior, Rally gauge package, honeycomb wheels, rear spoiler, recessed wipers, courtesy lamps and custom interior trim.  This car is the product of a four year rotisserie restoration.  It was restored to show quality condition throughout.  The body is very straight with some custom touches that include fender vents, Trans Am flares and shaved black trim.  The deep black paint is awesome and dresses the car well.  The accent pieces have been finished in satin black.  All of the glass is in very good condition and the rear glass is lightly tinted.  The car sits on new 17” Honeycomb wheels with super-sticky Nitto Ultra High Performance tires that are 275-40-17 all the way around.  The beautiful black interior has been completely restored.  Some interior upgrades include a leather wrapped dash, Dakota Digital VHX gauges, Vintage air conditioning, leather wrapped steering wheel, custom front and rear seats, Sparco seat belts, console with cup holders, B&M Quicksilver shifter, FAST computer display and custom window cranks.  The trunk compartment was restored and painted a light gray.  The car is powered by an Optima yellow top battery which was relocated to the trunk.

The engine compartment is very detailed and home to the original matching numbers 350 V8 that was stroked to a 383 V8 w/ 430HP.  The Butler Performance power plant is equipped with a port-matched intake, Fast fuel injection, Edelbrock aluminum heads, forged pistons, Comp roller cam and lifters, Lunati hydraulic lifters, ARP studs, Canton oiling system, Pontiac valve covers, March pulley system and MSD ignition.  The engine runs and sounds great.  It breathes out Hedman ceramic headers and a Pipes Performance exhaust system.  The engine is coupled with the 3-speed automatic transmission.  It’s equipped with a TCI torque converter and Trick Flow transmission pan.

The power is transferred to the pavement through the Moser engineering-prepped rear end with Eaton Posi.  It’s equipped with a CPP power steering box that is very precise.  The undercarriage is very detailed and mirror quality.  The chassis was strengthened with Heidts crossmembers and frame connectors.  It’s equipped with a Wilwood braking system with four wheel disc brakes with CPP red calipers and drilled rotors.  The modern suspension has CPP tubular control arms, QA1 coilovers, Corvette spindles and HD sway bars.

This car is the real deal.  An owner’s manual, miscellaneous restoration photos and parts manuals are included.  This car has recently been serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included.
