Vehicle Description
This 1966 Barracuda, nicknamed "The Gasser Passer," is a fully
documented, custom-built Plymouth Barracuda changed into a
gasser-style rod. It has been rotisserie restored with several body
and frame modifications to incorporate the power and capability of
a performance Chrysler engine. It has been driven less than 250
miles since its completion in 2009, and has been entered in several
local shows. It is powered by a 440ci RB big-block engine with an
overbore, mated to a 4-speed manual transmission obtained from a
1970 HEMI Cuda. It has a competition clutch, Hurst linkage and a
narrowed 8-3/4" Chrysler rear end utilizing a mid-60s factory Super
Stock setup. A set of 4-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes with custom
power boost setup provide the stopping power. This Barracuda
features a custom-fabricated frame modification to strengthen the
unibody factory design to enable a bigger boost in power. The front
axle was converted to a straight axle with power steering and the
elimination of hundreds of pounds of excess weight. The frame was
also fabricated with a built-in driveshaft safety loop and new
frame rails. The tubbed rear end has huge Sportsman tires. The
whole package has a wheelie bar setup to keep the front end down on
the road. The body has been modified to eliminate the stock gas
tank and fuel door as well as the battery location. The rear trunk
area has a 15-gallon fuel cell with electric fuel pump and
yellow-top battery. The interior has been completely replaced with
new fabric imitating the original black bucket seat interior. It
has a new black headliner, carpet, door panel and kick panel set.
The factory dash was removed and replaced with a custom set of
Stewart Warner gauges. The body has been painted in Fiesta Red.
Over 200 photos and all parts receipts are included. There are no
factory high-performance or factory options. The car is streetable
as a hot rod and custom car. It's not "stock." There are no
windshield wipers, wiper motor, or heater. It is properly licensed
and registered in the state of Idaho.
