FoMoCo, GM, and Mopar all offered multiple cars with big block V8s
that had (conservative) horsepower r atings in the 400 range.
Chevrolet introduced the mid-size, A-body Chevelle in 1964,
offering many different body styles and a plethora of engines
including three inline sixes, two small blocks and even a big block
396. The next revision came in 1968 when the Chevelle embraced more
of its muscle car lineage. The newly updated body would continue on
the success of the originals and would make a perfect predecessor
to the 1970 models. Enhancing on the success of the 70 model year,
the 71 was introduced with revised front and rear fascias, now with
half as many headlights and twice the taillights. The once again
updated body was one of the most iconic shapes of the muscle car
era. In SS trim, the car mandated at least a 350ci V8, as well as
HD suspension, blacked out grille, SS rear trim, and wide oval
tires on sport wheels. Less than half of all factory production
Super Sport equipped cars possess the potent LS5 454ci V8 engine!
This outstanding 1971 Chevelle SS454 Super Sport Hardtop was
restored in true, frame off fashion with no bolt left untouched!
Beginning with a fully blasted chassis & rust free body, both were
treated to a no expense spared restoration completed in 2008. With
the chassis fully repainted, it was fitted with all new hardware,
fuel & brake lines, fresh suspension, fuel tank, body bushings,
brake components, and other necessary components! The exterior body
was treated to hours of preparation and block sanded multiple times
to ensure the application of factory code correct 19- Tuxedo Black
would result in a stunning, mirror like finish! The white stripes
are taped perfectly without a single flaw, and buried under
multiple layers of clear coat leaving no trace of an edge! Serious
collectors know exquisite paint jobs like this are not only hard to
find, but also very expensive to produce. Leaving nothing short of
the best ensured the interior matched all other aspects of the car.
Everything new and finished just as it left the factory, all in
Black, with factory bucket seats and center console. Every wire
harness is new, all features are fully functional, and it comes
