Vehicle Description
2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS Coupe
In 1966 Mustangs were flying out of Ford showrooms, and Chevrolet
needed an answer. After many secret meetings, and covert internal
press events, engineers unveiled the official name for what had
been known up to this point as XP-836. Camaro was the chosen
namesake, and immediately the question became "but what does it
mean?". This question has no official linguistic answer, but as
Chevrolet marketing people would answer "It's an animal that eats
Mustangs!"
2002 marked the last year of production of the fourth generation
Camaro and the Camaro model in Chevrolet's line of passenger cars.
The low mileage (24,200) SS that we have to offer is a fully loaded
and preferred 6-speed. Powered by the Corvette LS-1 engine
producing 325hp through 5.7 Liters, the SLP modified sport coupe
was the top pony car in terms of performance and as tested by Motor
Trend Magazine.
Exterior
Donned in triple black, this SS comes with T-tops. Orange accent
stripes have been added to the Ram Air hood and along the sides of
the car. American Racing Wheels are on all four corners. SS Badging
is also seen in 3-dimensional rims painted orange.
Interior
Taking the option upgrade when we fling the door open, we are met
with black leather seats. 2 power buckets in front, and a smaller
2+2 bench in back. Speaking of options, it is also equipped with
power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel, AM/FM CD stereo and power
windows. Leather shows some minor lines but otherwise in good
shape. A Hurst shifter sits proudly in the center of the console
and looks at the dash which is standard for a 02 Camaro. Removable
smoked glass T-tops are presenting in nice condition.
Drivetrain
Powered by the Corvette LS-1 engine producing 325hp through 5.7
liters, the SLP modified sport coupe was the top pony car in terms
of performance and tested by Motor Trend Magazine. It is also
equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, for fast acceleration
or highway cruising.
Undercarriage
Seen as very clean and with usual surface rust on exhaust piping,
some suspension, and differential. It is very minor in the whole
scheme of things underneath. All seems sound with brakes and
suspension.
The 2002 Camaro SS's are continuing to climb in demand and price
among muscle and pony car collectors and it would be hard to find a
nicer example at the listed price. Offered in the triple black with
orange striping and hood scoop accent, this car shows in very good
condition.
