Vehicle Description
International Harvester is one of the coolest names in trucks
because it has an industrial toughness the rest of them can't
touch. So it's truly a special treat to find a classic 4x4 from
1957 in up-rated half-ton S-120 form that has also been given the
right care and investment to keep it quite vintage.
Nothing else looks like a like an International Harvester. After
all, these shared space at the dealership with industrial machines,
not chrome-king convertibles. So the IH trucks really had a
ready-to-work attitude ingrained in the design. You see that so
clearly here on the classic dark green color with white and black
accents where many Detroit guys might have tried to put chrome. But
don't mistake modesty for lacking in style. Rounded fenders, tall
hood, and the tapered cab have the classic elegance we love in a
'50s truck. This one has plenty of details, like the handle for the
side-mount hood, real-wood truck bed, and all the right classic IH
badges. Plus, that classic-style signage on the bed sides really
drives home the cool vintage working charm.
The old-school attitude continues inside. Metal door panels, vent
windows, and the springy bench seat make this almost feel like a
time machine instantly transporting you to when this was a
workhorse. The large and grippy steering wheel still has the
grooves of those workmen who have come before you. You'll even love
the detail work on everything from the IH badge on the horn cap to
the instructions for the 4x4 transfer case still bolted to the
dash.
The exceptionally honest presentation continues in the engine bay.
This is believed to be the original motor, and with its proper
presentation (right down to the decal on the air topper) it's hard
not to believe it's anything but original. While this bold red
motor looks like a time capsule, it fires up with the kind of ease
that signals someone has invested nicely in this one. This 240
cubic-inch motor is part of a long tradition of inline sixes at
International Harvester, and so it provides robust power needed
when you want your classic truck to be a true 4x4. That's exactly
what you want in these higher-series half-ton models. Plus, the
four-speed manual transmission has a great old-school feel while
also providing the best in control.
An International Harvester is already a rare sight on the scene,
and this is the even rarer half-ton S-120 with a tall 4x4 stance.
So if you like to stand above the rest (figuratively and literally)
don't miss this classic pickup. Call now!
