Vehicle Description
This 1971 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus is a great classic that became an
icon thanks to both style and function. So while we all have fond
memories of where we were when we saw our first Bus, the next owner
also gets to discover how great they are to still use today.
This is a legend on wheels. One of the reasons for such an enduring
presence is that VW really knew how to make these look great. The
green and white seen here carries that tradition quite well. More
than just a two-tone, the colors are intertwined nicely as the
white bumpers and steel wheels complement the roof section. And for
the right collector, you'll appreciate the high degree of
originality in the details, including most of the trim and
glass.
You see more of the original-style presentation when you open the
door. The front seats, steering wheel, and VDO gauges are pure
classic VW. Even an era-correct AM/FM radio is still on display.
These second-generation Type 2 Buses were nicknamed "bread vans"
for their distinct shape that maximized interior space. That's why
they make such great place to be a home away from home. Side vent
windows and an open middle section suggest this one is on its way
to be fully enjoyed at the campsite.
The engine is Volkswagen's famous flat-four unit. While you already
know how virtually bulletproof that powerplant is, as you look at
the pictures of this 1600cc unit, you can see there have been
plenty of recent quality investments. The four-speed manual
transmission is believed to have a new linkage, and so it has a
crisp action that allows you to take full control of the motor.
Plus, owning a later second-generation Type 2 has its benefits out
on the road, including an improved suspension and the stopping
power of front disc brakes.
This is the icon that has you dreaming of the open road, and at
this affordable price, it's hard not to answer the call. Call
