Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this charming 1973 BMW 2002
"roundie" finished in correct Agave over Tobacco interior. This '02
is an honest, long-term North Carolina car that is original where
it matters but features many nice upgrades for driveability:
five-speed manual transmission, adjustable sway bars, tii header,
Weber 38/38 carburetor, Ireland Engineering distributor with
electronic ignition, H4 headlights. Recent factory exhaust, shocks,
steering box, differential, front end and steering rebuild. Fresh
oil service, new front brakes, four new tires, alignment and
passenger window regulator. The previous owner claims the engine
was rebuilt and bored .030 over. Just over 11,000 miles is shown on
the five-digit odometer and we believe actual mileage to be
111,000. This is an excellent car mechanically that is fun to
drive.
Cosmetically this 2002 shows as an attractive driver; it was
repainted to a nice standard about ten years ago in the correct
color, Agave. Original paint in good condition remains in the
engine compartment. Underneath, all of the panels appear original
and in good condition - with the exception of a patch in the
rust-prone spare tire well. The lower body moulding was removed
during the repaint for a cleaner look; the factory steel wheels
with hubcaps are a nice touch. A brand new windshield was just
installed; other glass is believed original and in good condition.
It has been driven since it was cosmetically restored so a few
nicks and touch-ups are present but overall the car presents quite
nicely.
Inside, brand new OEM door panels were just fitted at great
expense; otherwise the interior is mostly original. Even the dash
pad is decent by 2002 standards although it does have a few cracks.
New berber floor mats. The gauges are clear and working as is the
period-correct Becker Europa radio. Original upholstery remains on
all of the seating surfaces; both front seats have a couple of
split seams on the bottom panel.
We have just completed 500 reliable miles in this car - it's ready
for touring use or local shows. For more information about this
