First time offered for sale since 2016 restoration. 1994 Dodge IROC race car.
Chassis was originally built by Banjo Matthews for use in the 1984 IROC Camaro race cars. This car/chassis (no.4) performed in 31 IROC races as a Camaro, then a Daytona and finally as an Avenger.
When IROC switched to Dodge Daytonas in 1990, the chassis was retrofitted with Dodge power and the Daytona body. Finally in 1994, the IROC race cars were all fitted with the Dodge Avenger bodies, as shown here. This car retains one of the original IROC Dodge 355 cu. in. 9:1 compression race engines, with only 45 hours runtime since last rebuilt by Ilmore Engineering. (Receipt in hand.) The Richmond Super T10 four-speed transmission and Stock Car Products quick change rear end are also authentic
IROC components, also with low hours. This car is ready for track fun or a museum. Currently set up in road course configuration, but since its restoration has only been used for car shows and cruise-ins, where it is always a crowd favorite.
HISTORY:
Mark Martin won at Darlington in '94 and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. won at Talladega in '95, both driving this car. Earnhardt clinched the championship in 1995 with his win in this car at Talladega in a nail biting finish. Neil Bonnet and Geoff Brabham drove this car to victories as well.
After the '95 season, the IROC Avengers were retired and this car became one of twelve IROC Avengers that were used as promotional "school" cars by the Penske-run Marlboro Racing Experience from 1999 to 2010. These twelve Avengers were all rebuilt, painted Marlboro red and white, and fitted with passenger seats.
This car was recently restored back to 1995 race appearance, except minor mechanical upgrades and the passenger seat were retained. During the restoration, the driver history was provided by former IROC officials based upon the original stamped chassis numbers, body component ID numbers, and the original 1994 tan race paint uncovered throughout the car.

NO RACE CAR CAN COME CLOSE TO THIS CONDITION AND PEDIGREE
Nowhere in the world will you ever find a single race car which has been raced by so many diferent racing legends from so many different disciplines. Mark Martin won at Darlington in '94 and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. won at Talladega in '95 on his 43rd Birthday, both driving this car as part of their championship winning seasons. In 1984, Neil Bonnett drove this chassis to Victory at Michigan, and what would be his last ever IROC victory.
One year after Earhardt's Taladega win in this car Jack Arute proclaimed it as "The greatest race ever heald in IROC history", where Dale Earnhardt "had an additional motivating factor that day because he was celebrating his 43rd birthday". Having started at the back of the field, The race was the ultimate display of Earnhardt's mastery of the Superspeedway against the world's best in equal cars.
In 1985, This car was also the star of the wildest finish in IROC history. When AJ Foyt was spun from the lead while dueling to the finish with Cale Yarborough and Tom Sneva at Daytona, he was able to drive this car through the grass blindly to still finish 3rd while the windshield sailed into the concession stand. The ensuing post race interview discussions between Foyt, Yarborough, and Sneva are an all time classic!
The car is signed by Dave Marcis..original test driver for the IROC cars as well as Ray Evernham - fabricator for the IROC cars.
This car can be seen on Ray Evernham's show "Glory Road".
Documentation includes significant correspondence from Jay Signore, President to of the IROC series as well as Jim Meister of Penske racing. Jim still works with Penske.

Subject: IROC Avenger #4
"Yes your car is IROC #4. The BP with a R means it was a repair. Probably had a rear clip put on it in 92,thats why it has two BP numbers on it. Banjo never put a central chassis number on the chassis. every time a car would get a front clip on it the BP number would change."
"My records show it as one of the original cars in 84 Starting life as a Camaro. As far as I know there was only one cream colored car until 96 when we changed to Laughlin Cars."
"I have attached the drivers to finish that I have for that Chassis."
Any more questions please feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Jim Meister
