Vehicle Description
1967 Volkswagen Beetle
The need for a people's car (Volkswagen in German), its concept and
its functional objectives were formulated by the leader of Nazi
Germany, Adolf Hitler, who wanted a cheap, simple car to be
mass-produced for his country's new road network. The Volkswagen
Beetle-officially the Volkswagen Type 1, informally in German the
Kfer (literally "beetle"), in parts of the English-speaking world
the Bug, and known by many other nicknames in other languages-is a
two-door, rear-engine economy car, intended for up to four or five
passengers, that was manufactured and marketed by German automaker
Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003.
Is there any car that's more recognizable than Volkswagen's Beetle?
It single-handedly built a 58 year legacy out of honest, no frills
transportation. And today, it continues to be one of the most
endearing shapes on the planet. That's because there simply isn't
any platform with a better combination of vintage style, cool
engineering and big-time affordability than a vintage VeeDub.
Exterior
Benefitting from a body off restoration in 2016 by the consigner,
this VW has only logged 200 miles since that time. In addition to
paying close attention to the steel, it's in the details that this
car shows so well. That said, new body seals and weather stripping,
including window scrapers, and vent window seals. A new windshield,
new pop out rear windows, and all new turn signals, headlights, and
rear lights. All this was then wrapped in VW/Audi racing green base
cost then clear coated. Wheels were sandblasted and repainted to
original look. Not to mention the new stainless steel front and
rear bumpers. Can you say absolutely no rust?
Interior
A gorgeous TMI custom tweed interior, seats, headliner, door
panels, and carpet. A fun little shelf below the dash made from
bamboo and knitted rattan is functional and lightweight, let's call
it the snowshoe for the dash. Speaking of which the dash is the
same spotless beautiful VW racing green, houses a retro modern
AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo, and 2 gauges...a speedo and a fuel
gauge.
Drivetrain
Pop the trunk and see a clean all functioning engine bay that has a
standard Volkswagen Beetle engine of 1493-cc (as on Type 3) and 53
horsepower. A new carburetor was installed by a certified service
center, and consigner states that compression is 135-145lbs on all
cylinders. Attached is the 4-speed manual transmission.
Undercarriage
New brakes where needed, and new brake lines as well as wheel
cylinders replaced or rebuilt as necessary. No rust, no surface
rust, just clean painted steel.
From a collector's standpoint, they're plentiful, fun, easy to live
with toys which enjoy a cult-like following and a positively
gigantic support system. This sweet '67 restored to near perfection
with a frame-off restoration that's been aged to perfection, is the
ideal classic for a budget-minded collector or anyone who just
wants an awesome weekend warrior. If you're looking for one of the
best and most unique rides your money can buy, welcome to the
'people's car'! Oh, and it floats just like the commercial.
