The Series 1 was the first and only car designed, engineered and
built from the ground-up, as a Shelby, by Shelby American and
Carroll Shelby. Every component that went into building the Series
1 was designed specifically for it, including the modified
Oldsmobile Aurora V8 320hp racing engine and custom ZF 6-speed
manual transaxle. The frame is aluminum featuring aluminum
honeycomb reinforcement panels, covered in carbon fiber and
fiberglass laminate body panels; a first in an American car. This
car is #112 of 249 produced, and was assembled at Shelby's Las
Vegas facility in 1999. It's equipped with the Supercharger Package
offered by Shelby as an optional extra, with the 4.0-liter V8
engine, bumping its power to 450hp, backed by a 6-speed manual
transmission. This Series 1, which has less than 4,000 actual
miles, was also fitted with many Shelby-sourced and installed
extras, including 4-wheel 4-piston disc brakes and painted Metallic
Blue Le Mans stripes. Other features include air conditioning,
power steering and brakes, power windows, locks and mirrors, and
Shelby 5-spoke aluminum wheels with specifically designed Z-rated
tires. It has Carroll Shelby's authentic signature on the dash, and
has never been raced.
