This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette was professionally built by Billy
Dawson's Corvette Connection. It was one of 10 Signature Series
cars and was built specifically for Billy as his personal car. This
Vette combines a solid, undamaged 61 Corvette body and a
powder-coated Dawson chassis. It is powered by a 2008 Corvette
6.2-liter LS3 V8 crate engine producing 430bhp, with a Tremec
6-speed manual gearbox and a Dana 44, 3.45:1 differential. The
suspension is from a C4 Corvette. The chassis enables a standard
body to bolt on, unaltered. Subtle alterations include a 1960-type
toothed front grille, C5 door handles with electric locks, C7
chrome wheels and a custom-made exhaust system with central 4-pipe
outlet. The interior features AI Knoch custom leather heated seats,
power windows and electric trunk release, Classic Instruments
gauges with an electrically driven speedometer, chrome-plated
Ididit steering column and a Wonder Bar AM/FM radio. It's also
equipped with Vintage Air heating and air conditioning, and a Be
Cool radiator was added. The convertible top is done in maroon and
matches the interior carpeting. The exterior is finished in 2008
Cadillac Pewter with chrome.
