Vehicle Description
This Raven Black 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL came out of the famous Al
Means Ford Dealership in Decatur, GA, the lead sponsor of Phil
Bonner's numerous 1960s drag cars. This Galaxie was purchased in
June 1964, and in March 1965 the owner returned to Al Means Ford to
make an upgrade to the car with a genuine Ford 427ci high-riser
engine with dual 4-barrel carburetors. This engine assembly was the
most powerful passenger car engine produced for retail sale by Ford
and was only available through the Ford Dealership Parts Counter.
The engine is backed by the factory Toploader 4-speed manual
transmission and 4:11 Detroit Locker rear end. This Galaxie has
60,721 original miles (the title reads mileage exempt) and received
a complete nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration with attention to
every detail.
