Vehicle Description
The Kaiser-Darrin Sports Car was the first American
fiberglass-bodied sports car, making its debut six months before
the Corvette. Finished in its original shade of red, this
Kaiser-Darrin is powered by a Willys 161ci 6-cylinder engine
coupled to a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. It
features a 3-position top, which can be all the way up, partially
down like a sunroof, or all the way down for full convertible
driving. When down, the top folds behind the seats and is hidden by
a leatherette curtain that folds over it. The doors slide into the
fender rather than opening outward. The sweeping front fenders, the
split windshield and a "rosebud" grille give it a unique look.
