The 1998-2002 Trans Ams were the most powerful and fastest F-body's
to ever come out of General Motors. With the new LS1 5.7L V-8
borrowed from the Corvette, these cars put down 305hp straight off
of the showroom floor, or 320hp if you had checked the box for the
WS6 performance package with "Ram Air". Even with this remarkable
performance, some people were left wanting more. His is where SLP
stepped in to meet those needs. Street Legal Performance was a
small company started by ex-drag racer and performance enthusiast
Ed Hamburger in 1987. They had been modifying Firebirds into
Firehawks since 1992. The company did such an excellent job that GM
began selling the Firehawk package through Pontiac dealers as
factory RPO WU6. When the buyer checked this box, the Trans Am or
Formula of their choice was sent from GM's St. Therese, Canada
production line directly to SLP's production facility for
conversion before going on to the dealer. The conversion from Trans
Am to Firehawk was quite extensive. SLP fitted a new composite hood
with functional cold air induction scoops and heat extractors,
performance stainless steel exhaust system with twin dual tips,
upgraded performance suspension package, and 17"x9" five spoke
wheels wearing P275/40ZR17 "Firehawk" tires. This particular
Firehawk has since received further enhancements including an LS6
intake, 243 LS6 cylinder heads, Comp Cams Hi-Energy camshaft,
Hooker Super Comp shorty headers, custom tune, and Vigilante 2800
rpm stall converter for amazing launch performance. Add to this
limited production(1 of only 49 in this color), low mileage, and an
extreme amount of documentation and you have the recipe for a sure
fire investment grade collectible muscle car. If you are in the
know about 4th generation F-bodies, it simply doesn't get any
better than this. Stop in or email
