The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International
Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally
aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, which were much smaller than
other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply
offer a shortened pickup truck, which both increased interior
space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform.
The Blazer quickly became popular. For the first time, it married
the off-road capabilities of the Scout and Bronco with the "luxury"
features like air conditioning and automatic transmissions
routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, the Blazer was
already outselling all of its older rivals.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this stunning 1972 K-5 Blazer
for your consideration. This truck features a no expense spared
restoration, with an estimated cost of over $80k. The original
Blazer was a two owner truck and had less than 26k original miles
on it. The truck was taken down to the bare frame and everything
was replaced or rebuilt. Some of the extensive mods include a new
repaint in Prowler Orange with Tuxedo Black accents and unique
coachlines. The body is all steel and features a custom roll bar
that mounts to the frame as well as all new glass and a custom
bikini top. The interior features Mastercraft seats, Corbeau seat
belts, tilt steering column, Kenwood stereo, rebuilt gauges, custom
console, and a nitrogen tank. The engine is a completely rebuilt
454 cid V8 with a 4 bolt main and 500 hp. It has a 11:1 compression
ratio, Holley 750 carb, MSD ignition, +150hp Nitro kit, Be-Cool
aluminum radiator, headers, custom 3in exhaust with ceramic
FlowMaster mufflers, and an optima battery. The transmission is a
Turbo 350 with a custom shift kit and it runs through a New Process
205 transfer case with all new bearings and seals. It also has a
custom drive shaft and a trans cooler. Running gear is a 14 bolt GM
1-ton rear with 4.56 posi traction Moser axles, Dana 44 front, four
wheel disc brakes with Wilwood hydroboost, custom 4 link
suspension, Fox remote reservoir coilover shocks, dual rate
springs, 14in front and 13in rear suspension travel, HD sway bars,
reinforced frame, Mickey Thompson aluminum wheels and Interco SS
37in tires.
This stunning and fully built Blazer is said to have just 1,500
miles on the build and has never been offroad or abused. You won't
find another one like this!
